Hilton Head Island, SC | Long Cove Club is a private community on the southern end of Hilton Head Island. Originally developed in the early 1980's, Long Cove is an all-inclusive, one class of membership community where only property owners are members. It is situated on 610 acres, has 570 home sites, and is built around an acclaimed Pete Dye designed golf course. Long Cove Club has an excellent security system, and is very private, with no short-term rentals permitted. Every lot or homeowner is a member of Long Cove Club and has full use of the amenities we offer.
Our renowned golf course winds through majestic moss-draped oaks, towering pines, and the scenic tidal marshes of Broad Creek. Each hole showcases the natural beauty of the Lowcountry, creating a memorable and distinctly Long Cove Club golf experience.
Long Cove Club has many first-class amenities such as a full-service Clubhouse, which overlooks the first and eighteenth holes. Other amenities include a Jr. Olympic-size pool, a Sports Center with tennis, pickleball and bocce ball, a marina, community garden/playground and an 18-hole golf course.
Broad Creek, which leads to the Calibogue Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway, forms the northern boundary of Long Cove Club and offers a magnificent site for the community's 80+ slip Marina. Kayaking and fishing are also popular activities.
Long Cove Club's team is made up of a number of hard-working departments that include Administration, Clubhouse, Community Services, Golf Course Maintenance, Golf Operations, Security, and Sports Center. Reports to: General Manager/COO
Supervises: Director of Instruction, Head Golf Professional, Assistant Golf Professionals, Outside Services Team, Merchandise Manager, Locker Room Attendant, and all other golf operations personnel
Position Description: The Director of Golf is a hands-on, visible leader responsible for the overall golf experience at the Club. This role is about more than running daily operations—it’s about setting the tone, building relationships, and creating an environment where members genuinely enjoy spending their time.
The Director of Golf oversees all aspects of the golf operation, including the golf shop, outside services, instruction, and programming. This individual ensures the operation runs smoothly day-to-day, while continuing to evolve and improve the member experience.
The right person will be present, approachable, and engaged with both members and team members, while taking pride in both the details and the bigger picture of how golf fits into the overall Club experience.
Champion a culture of hospitality, accountability, and teamwork that consistently elevates the member experience
Lead daily golf operations to ensure consistent pace of play and a high-quality on-course experience
Build and sustain a golf program that drives participation through a well-executed and engaging tournament schedule
Set the direction and standards for the golf shop and services, delivering a retail experience that meets member expectations and supports strong performance
Elevate the presentation and functionality of all golf operation areas to reflect the Club’s overall standards
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team, creating a clear path for growth among assistant professionals and staff
Guide the financial performance of the golf operation through thoughtful planning, budgeting, and staffing alignment
Use operational data and member feedback to continuously improve engagement and overall performance
Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Club leadership to ensure alignment and a consistently strong golf experience
Represent the Club in a way that strengthens its reputation with members, guests, and within the golf community

PGA Membership in good standing required
Have a minimum of five years of experience as a leader in private golf operations
Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and delivering exceptional service
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking, standing, and movement throughout golf facilities and grounds
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed
Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, based on operational needs
A competitive compensation package will be offered based on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position, with consideration given to compensation levels at comparable facilities.
