Laid out in 1899, it is Minnesota’s 3rd oldest Club and golf links, designed by Scottish designer William Watson. The fabled 9-hole jewel features lake views from all holes, and small, tabletop sloping greens protected by strategically located bunkers recently rebuilt with white BESTSAND (Ohio). Playable for the beginner yet ever-challenging for the advanced golfer, the course has nurtured the skills of two National championship players and members of the Minnesota Golf Hall of Fame.
Lafayette Club and Windsong Farms Golf Club have a reciprocal agreement, allowing members to enjoy privileges and play at both courses.

Title: Head Golf Professional
Reports to: General Manager/COO
Supervises: Assistant Golf Professional and Golf Services Staff
Position Description: The Head Golf Professional will manage the golf operation at Lafayette Club, ensuring top-notch standards for member and guest enjoyment. Responsibilities include overseeing the golf operation, driving range, simulator, and professional staff; enforcing club rules; and managing the USGA-accredited handicap system.
Mentor and onboard staff, providing ongoing training and encouraging them to pursue educational opportunities that boost personal, team, and operational performance.
Ensure all club accounting and billing for guests, carts, golf events, and merchandise are accurately maintained and processed daily.
Operate a successful and profitable golf shop that caters to all member segments by offering added value, a wide range of products, unique items, non-golf accessories, and a diverse, top-tier product mix that excites members and guests.
Manage and enhance year-round instructional and clinic programs to advance player development and attract new golfers to the game.
Organize and conduct club tournaments and related activities.
Prepare annual and monthly budgets for golf operations; take corrective actions necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
Meet regularly with the General Manager and Golf Course Superintendent to review the condition of the golf course and make recommendations on areas needing attention.
Provide for the most efficient use of tee times and assure all tee times are properly scheduled and attended by players.
Attend national and sectional conferences and meetings, merchandise shows, educational and professional shows to encourage development and to enhance the quality and image of the club.
Participate in Board and Golf Committee meetings to provide input and insights that foster the growth of golf and enhance enjoyment for all members.
Supervise and schedule the work hours for the Golf Operation, golf course, golf simulator, and golf cart staff within the parameters of the annual operating budget.
Provide a high level of customer service as expected of a private club to ensure a positive experience for club members and guests.
Maintain a visible presence on the course during peak times of play.
Familiarity with technology that improves member and guest satisfaction, such as electronic tee time scheduling and tournament setup, and scoring technology
Uphold and enforce club rules impartially, ensuring all staff understand and apply policies consistently.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
3-5 years of work experience as a Lead Assistant Golf Professional, Head Golf Professional, or equivalent work experience
Class A Member of the PGA of America is preferred
Experience in managing golf operations, including staff supervision, budget management, tournaments, and events.
Demonstrated experience managing golf shop merchandise, including inventory selection, vendor negotiation, and sales strategy implementation to enhance member and guest satisfaction.
Outstanding interpersonal skills (optimistic, respectful, honest, reliable, organized, ability to delegate, open to diversifying ideas, and able to follow through).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand, and lift 50 pounds.
Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
Moderate noise level in the work environment.
Ability to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
The club will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Base salary $80,000-$110,000
Total compensation up to $130,000
