The centerpiece of Happy Hollow is its 18-hole championship golf course and 3-hole short course, supported by a premier practice facility, an entertainment simulator studio for golf members, and a comprehensive instructional program. Members play approximately 16,128 member rounds and 3,352 guest rounds annually, supported by a robust calendar of competitive, social, and instructional programming. Position Description: The Director of Golf at Happy Hollow Club is a highly visible, strategic, and dynamic leader responsible for overseeing and elevating all facets of the Club’s golf experience. This executive role is central to shaping the golf culture and ensuring that the service, programs, and facilities reflect Happy Hollow’s long-standing reputation for excellence.
The Director of Golf will oversee all golf operations, including daily play, member engagement, tournament programming, instruction and player development, merchandising, budgeting, and staffing. This individual will build, develop, and lead a high-performing professional team, fostering a culture of hospitality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Close collaboration with the Golf Course Superintendent, and other department leaders will be essential to deliver a seamless and exceptional golf experience.
A successful candidate will be both a strategic visionary and a hands-on operator — someone who understands the evolving needs of a modern, multi-generational membership and can anticipate and exceed expectations. Set and uphold high standards for customer service, professionalism, and operational discipline across all golf operations.
Provide strong leadership and oversight of the bag room, ensuring accountability and professionalism.

Education & Certification:
Proven success as a Head Professional/Director of Golf, or significant experience as an Assistant under a respected mentor at a high-level private club.
Exceptional leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for member engagement and service.
PGA Membership (Class A) required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Proficiency with golf-related technologies and management systems.
First Year Success Metrics:
Establish strong, trust-based relationships with members by maintaining high visibility and accessibility throughout all areas of golf operations.
Build and lead a stable, motivated, and professional golf staff, fostering a positive team culture and clear accountability.
Ensure smooth, efficient execution of golf events, tournaments, and shop operations, consistently delivering exceptional service and attention to detail.
Launch a revitalized golf calendar that increases participation across all member segments—including juniors, women, and social golfers—through creative and engaging programming.
Maintain open, transparent communication with the Board, committees, and membership, providing regular updates and proactively seeking feedback to ensure alignment and confidence in golf operations.
