Milford, CT | Built along the banks of the Housatonic River, Great River Golf Club is a championship-style, Tommy Fazio-designed 18-hole golfing destination offering a first-class experience for golfers of all abilities. Great River Golf Club is an 18-hole semi-private owned by Sacred Heart University. Club has 315 memberships and does on average 25,000 rounds, 90% of rounds are from members.
Home of the SHU men’s & women’s D1 golf teams, the course is one of the toughest in the state and is continuously ranked one of the best in the state. The club has a 2,000 sq. ft. golf shop, 20 bay practice range, a short game area, a putting green, and two indoor hitting bays.

Ability to secure high levels of membership satisfaction
Ability to train and develop staff members in an effort to promote them to jobs of greater responsibility internally or at other clubs
Ability to develop and maintain, and consistently enforce, high standards of conduct, performance, and standard operating procedures
Design/develop and implement goals and objectives that drive the Club’s strategic plan
Ability to effectively communicate with all staff, not just in golf operations, but in all departments, recognizing that golf operations influence on the property as a whole
Being consistently innovative with programming, and ensuring the same level of engagement from the golf team in his or her absence.
Provide quality leadership and a positive and engaging style; be a real people person and communicate openly and freely with members and staff
Work closely with the General Manager/COO to define and perpetuate the finest golf experience in the northeast that meets the high expectations of the Club’s total membership and our guest
Maintain a professional appearance and a respectful, integrity-based style in all interactions with staff and membership
Lead and manage the overall golf program, recognizing the tremendous opportunity to grow the game
Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and other key departments in coordinating schedules and demonstrating a strong team player leadership role
Be ambitious and motivated; provide an energy and enthusiasm for both the Club and the game of golf
Be responsible for all golf operations including merchandising/golf shop, bag room, cart barns, starter, practice facilities, etc.
Recruit, hire, train and develop the professional golf staff and all employees within the golf operation
Manage fiscal responsibilities for all golf areas including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and corrective management
Oversee all operational policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory, and resources
Represent the golf department at club meetings and information sessions
Maintain and promote a superlative professional image within the community and golf world
Must be an organized, competent, respected manager and possess outstanding customer service skills
Must be able to perform all physical requirements of a Head Golf Professional including the ability and confidence to play golf with members and in various club events
Must have good computer skills and be proficient in golf operations software, including but not limited to: Jonas, handicap systems, POS, word processing, tournament programs
Maintain the ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare reports
Establish, maintain and execute golf events meeting the high standards members expect within the competitive framework as established by the Golf Committee
Knowledgeable in best practices in top performing and high member satisfaction operations across the country
A verifiably unblemished career track that demonstrates a record of tenure and commitment to previous employers, where career moves were for enhancement of skills and experiences as opposed to unplanned career changes
Pursue Perfection of Total Quality Management
A high level of golf playing ability
Verifiable ability to attract, hire, train, develop and lead a high performing team of professionals while setting and maintaining standards of performance appropriate to a highly respected, traditional country club
Exceptionally strong communication skills with staff and members, creating an open exchange environment to elevate the golf operations forward in a consistently positive, passionate manner
An accomplished PGA professional with a proven track record of providing premier services in a dynamic membership environment

Class A PGA Member in Good Standing
Head Professional experience is preferred, but well-prepared assistant professionals may be considered
Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000
Total Anticipated Compensation: Approximately $90,000
