Lakeland, FL | Opened in 1992, Grasslands Golf and Country Club is located just minutes from downtown Lakeland, Florida. The club features a championship golf course designed by Jerry Pate and Bob Cupp. The beautiful Clubhouse features multiple dining and banquet room options that showcase majestic views of the golf course and surrounding area. Additionally, there is a dedicated Swim & Tennis Club that features a junior Olympic-size pool, a children’s pool supported by the Deckside Cafe restaurant, and locker rooms. There are also five har-tru soft tennis courts, two hard courts, and two pickleball courts, all lighted for night play.
The Pate and Cupp course provides an excellent member golfing experience and has hosted numerous professional events and qualifiers over the years. Golf Digest has rated Grasslands as on the top clubs in the nation with the “Best Players”.
Grasslands GCC members have recently invested close to $5MM in course and clubhouse improvements. After significant investment in drainage and irrigation, the club is currently beginning a Greens and Bunkers renovation to rebuild the greens to USGA standard and to upgrade bunkers for improved playability, drainage, and design.

Title: Head Golf Professional
Reports to: General Manager/COO
Supervises: Assistant Golf Professionals, Outside Service Staff, Golf Interns
Position Description: The Head Golf Professional is the senior leader of the golf department and will be responsible for managing all day-to-day golf-related operations and activities. This individual will present a professional image and be an ambassador for Grasslands Golf and Country Club.
Grasslands Golf and Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual who possesses a solid understanding of the golf business, has experience with private memberships, has the ability to lead the golf service team, and demonstrates proficiency in playing and teaching the game of golf.
This position will be an ambassador for the club by promoting an exceptional golf experience and providing excellent services and programs for all Grasslands members and guests. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a welcoming and outgoing personality that can engage and create relationships with our members, guests, and club staff from all departments. Grasslands is looking for someone who is an effective communicator, able to work in a collaborative team environment and has strong anticipatory and problem-solving skills. This individual will be on the front line to maximize member and guest satisfaction at the club.
All staff members have the responsibility of promoting and upholding the image of Grasslands by providing a warm, friendly atmosphere and superior customer service to our members and guests. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for all golf operations at the club, including event management, communication, golf carts, bag room, locker rooms, golf shop, practice facilities, member events calendar, charity outings, and merchandising.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of golf operations; manage the day-to-day personnel function; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Club's policies and by-laws.
Prepare monthly and annual budgets for the golf operation, taking corrective action as necessary to stay on plan.
Work closely with the golf course superintendent to coordinate turf care practices and course closures
Administer, interpret, and enforce all club rules and policies that govern the use of the course, golf cars, and other golf-related facilities.
Provide superior customer service to members and guests.
Engage and create transformational and genuine relationships with members and guests.
Responsible for hiring, oversight, training, scheduling, and supervision of all golf operations staff.
Create an atmosphere of continuous improvement for themselves and their staff.
Promote a positive and team-oriented service culture for all golf employees.
Attending all staff, management, Golf Committee, and other applicable meetings.
Oversee and operate a highly regarded golf shop that provides the best selection of merchandise to meet the member's needs and works within the budgetary guidelines.
Provide competent qualified golf instruction, and supervise teaching staff; ensure the instructions program provides age and skill-appropriate golf lessons to members and their guests; design and conduct golf clinics and player development programs for all skill levels.
Facilitation of a highly engaging golf event program that encourages participation from all member segments.
Ensure the USGA rules of golf and handicapping are adhered to.
Create an environment that encourages the Professional staff to play golf with members of all golfing abilities
Develop and maintain a high-quality communication plan that effectively provides the membership with an understanding of all golf-related events.
Conduct regular staff meetings and foster communication amongst the golf operations staff along with the full club staff.
Attend conferences, meetings, merchandise shows, and professional development opportunities to represent and enhance the image of the club.
Represent the Club in professional golf activities in a professional manner; participate in public relations efforts in and around the Club and community.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Education and Certifications
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university Preferred
Five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
PGA Class A member in good standing
Knowledge, Skills, Traits
Ability to produce a high volume and quality of work in a timely manner
Advanced working knowledge of Jonas software, golf genius
Strong background in collaboration
History of building high performing teams

The club will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Base Salary of $115,000 - $125,000 base salary offer will be based on experience and skill set
Total Anticipated Compensation $175,000
Merchandise Concession Income - 10% of gross sales
100 % of Lesson income
