The Colony, TX | The Golf Clubs at The Tribute is set on a secluded, picturesque peninsula along Lake Lewisville. This 36-hole property offers two exceptional and distinctive courses.
The Tribute Golf Links: In 2000, renowned golf course architect Tripp Davis created a true homage to the birthplace of the game. Designed around the historic architecture of Scotland, the links-style course features elements derived from legendary layouts like St. Andrews, Carnoustie, Turnberry, and Royal Troon.
Old American Golf Club: A decade later, Tripp Davis paired with PGA Tour Winner Justin Leonard to establish a completely contrasting architectural concept. Old American looks to the "Golden Age of American Golf Architecture" (the 1920s and 1930s), drawing heavy inspiration from iconic American masterpieces such as Shinnecock, Garden City, and National Golf Club.
Current Operations and Club Culture
In 2020, they merged these two unique, iconic designs into a single facility, establishing a non-equity, semi-private club with a deep commitment to the member experience. Management operates with complete administrative autonomy under a stable, long-tenured leadership team led by General Manager Mike McCabe, PGA Master Professional. The club prides itself on delivering a championship-caliber atmosphere, fostering an active and vibrant club culture driven by extensive member tournament calendars, player development programming, and strong retail and club fitting operations.
The Club membership is currently full with an established waitlist.
Facilities & Lifestyle Amenities
The property features a premier lifestyle infrastructure tailored for upscale lakeside living, social gathering, and a high-end club experience. Beyond the fairways, the expansive clubhouse serves as the social epicenter of the community, anchoring a celebrated, garden-to-table culinary program. Members and guests can enjoy the casual, historic charm of the Tom Morris Pub—highlighted by an authentic wooden bar imported directly from Scotland—or opt for the refined, upscale ambiance of the exclusive Member Dining Room, complete with a custom wine cellar and private member wine lockers. Embracing its spectacular peninsula setting along Lake Lewisville, the club offers an unparalleled waterfront lifestyle that blends premier club hospitality with panoramic lake views and a vibrant, year-round social calendar.
Future Outlook & Player Development
The club is a recognized regional hub for high-level instruction, anchored by the Club’s Teaching Professional, Garrett Anderson, PGA, as well as the onsite Altus Performance academy. Altus Performance at Golf Clubs of the Tribute is led by Nick Dunn, PGA (2025 Northern Texas PGA Teacher & Coach of the Year). The academy provides elite roadmaps for competitive junior and collegiate athletes.
The facility's player development amenities are expanding further with the recent approval for the construction of "The Swing Shack"—a state-of-the-art indoor teaching facility featuring three indoor/outdoor hitting bays for year-round instruction and fittings to further enhance the instruction experience.
