ABOUT GLEN VIEW CLUB
Located in Golf, IL, Glen View Club was established in 1897 and was Chicago’s second 18-hole golf course constructed. The initial golf course was designed by Richard Leslie, the Club’s first golf professional, in consultation with member and golf course architect, Herbert J. Tweedie. William S. Flynn was commissioned for a redesign in 1922.
Over the ensuing ninety years, Glen View Club’s golf course, like most historic clubs, underwent a series of evolutions. In 2013, award-winning architect, Jim Urbina, was contracted as the Club’s current golf course architect, and most of Flynn’s original design elements have been restored to its current 6,963-yard, Par 72 layout. In 1899, Glen View Club hosted the first Western Open – one of five to be held on our course. The Club hosted the 1902 U.S. Amateur, which was won by member, Louis N. James, the first American-born golfer to claim the title. In 1904, Willie Anderson won the third of his four U.S. Opens at Glen View Club. In addition to these championships, Glen View Club successfully hosted the 2021 Western Amateur and looks forward to hosting more championships in the future.
Noted members through the years have included U.S. Presidents, William Howard Taft and Warren G. Harding, Vice President Charles Gates Dawes, and renowned amateur golfer, Charles “Chick” Evans. Chick was joined in the World Golf Hall of Fame by Jock Hutchison, who served as Glen View Club’s Head Golf Professional for 35 years.
The club has had a total of 8 Head Golf Professionals in its 127-year history and has approximately 320 members playing 18,000 rounds annually with no starting times. The Club has an exceptional caddie program and over 80% of all rounds played are walking. The first Evans Scholar came from Glen View Club and the Club continues to embrace the rich traditions of the game and strongly supports the WGA and Evans Scholarship Program, along with the Club’s own Glen View Scholarship Foundation.
The current Golf Pro Shop was rebuilt in 2008 with approximately 1,300 square feet of retail space and is owned by the Head Golf Professional. The Pro Shop currently has had merchandise sales of over $1,000,000 in each of the past 3 years. The Pro Shop is also equipped with an indoor golf center, which includes hitting bays with video for private instruction and a full golf simulator used primarily during the winter months. The Club is dedicated to offering the membership with the latest in technology and has TrackMan, SAM Putt Lab,
Putting Platform, along with many other teaching tools and technology that the Director of Instruction and Assistant Professionals use.
Other club amenities include an active driving range, tennis, pickle ball, paddle tennis, swimming, shooting and ice-skating during the winter months, along with a full complement of dining facilities in the clubhouse.

The position will assist the Head Golf Professional in all areas and management of the Golf Operation. In the past 7 years, we have helped 8 of our Assistant Golf Professionals move on to Head Professional positions. The selected candidate will be strongly supported to follow a similar career path and move into a Head Golf Professional position within a year or two.
The Assistant Golf Professional will be responsible for the Golf Operation in the absence of the Head Golf Professional. The selected candidate must be a self-motivated individual with a proven track record of accomplishments and possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide exceptional customer service to all members and guests with an emphasis on attention to detail.
Administer the tournament operations program using the Golf Genius software program and monitor seasonal assistant’s tournament operations responsibilities.
Merchandise apparel, equipment and accessories to create a positive shopping experience for members and guests through effective merchandising techniques.
Utilize the point-of-sale system for all merchandise transactions.
Assist with ordering merchandise and processing special orders.
Conduct individual private golf lessons to all membership segments.
Provide a comprehensive club fitting experience by using TrackMan.
Perform club repair in an efficient and proper manner.
Administer Junior Golf Program with support from Director of Instruction. Junior program consists of Summer Camp, Clinics, and Junior Interclub League.
Assist Director of Instruction with Ladies Clinics and Playing Lessons.
Communicate effectively will all staff members and department heads.
Organize the weekly newsletter to provide updated information to members.
Utilize the Club website to provide updated tournament results and information about upcoming programs and services available to the membership.
Training and development of seasonal assistant professionals.
Assist in overseeing all areas of Outside Operations (bag room, staging area, cart barn, and practice facilities).
Play golf with members on a weekly basis, when the tournament calendar allows.
Assist Head Golf Professional with annual member golf trip planning.
Involved in the budgeting process and preparing reports for Board of Directors.

Education and Certifications
The selected candidate shall have a minimum of 3-5 years experience as an Assistant Golf Professional at a similar facility. The individual must be a Class A PGA or LPGA Member in good standing with the PGA of America. In addition, a minimum of a four-year college degree is preferred.

Compensation Information
Total Compensation estimated at $90,00-$117,500
Salary - $65,000 to $80,000 dependent on experience
On-site from April 1 to December 24 (6-day work schedule)
Off-season from December 25 to March 31 (limited hours & flexible schedule)
Golf Instruction - $20,000 to $30,000
Holiday Bonus - $3,000 to $5,000

Golf Tournament Allowance up to $1,000 annually for entry fees
Accompany Head Professional on annual member trip (all expenses paid). Past destinations include Bandon Dunes, Pebble Beach, Cabot Links, Las Vegas, Scotland & Ireland
Club Repair Commission - $1.000 to $1,500
PGA/GBN Dues Paid
Full playing and practice privileges
Caddie fees paid when playing with members
Staff uniforms provided at no charge
Equipment contract with vendor
Employee meals provided for lunch and dinner
