Columbia, SC | Forest Lake Club began as a golf club in 1923, located on the old Dents Pond adjacent to a popular swim club enjoyed by many Columbia residents. The construction of the golf course was followed by a new clubhouse, and tennis courts with swimming in Forest Lake. After 100 years, it remains the premier country club in the Midlands.
The Club, being a member-owned, “legacy type” private club has a total of 1140 members. The 44,000-square-foot clubhouse has a dining and event space that suits all different types of member preferences and events. In addition, there is our free-standing casual dining restaurant, The Lakeside Grille, situated next to the Clubhouse and pool. Seasonal features and amenities include a resort-style pool and snack bar. An active tennis program and facility exists with 10 total courts. The Pro-Shop and Golf Course feature a newly updated shop with an extensive merchandise program. In the club’s first year of owning merchandise, it is expected to generate $600k in total sales. Attached to the pro-shop, is a turn house with an extensive grab-and-go section, with full-service breakfast and lunch offerings. The Club has an 18-hole golf course, with 31k rounds seen in 2023 over a 7-day-a-week operation. The majority of rounds, being member-driven, do not allow outside tournament play. The club is currently partnered with Beau Welling, to develop a long-term master plan for the golf course and campus.
The Head Golf Professional is expected to lead the golf program in seeking higher levels of member satisfaction, member involvement, and overall excellence, through the continual focus upon operational discipline and reliability, and programmatic growth and enhancement.
