Position Description: The Director of Golf is entrusted with bringing Firefly’s vision to life by establishing a golf operation that matches the significance of the Andrew Green course. This is a leadership role for a visionary, polished, and passionate golf professional who can balance the operational excellence required at an elite private club with the personal touch that makes each member feel at home. This position requires a person with a Servant's Heart and will lead a team whose mission is to make Firefly a welcome, engaging, and warm community for its members and guests.
The Director must be an accomplished player who enjoys spending time on the course with all member segments, using those experiences to foster relationships and create traditions. They will also serve as an exceptional mentor, guiding assistant golf professionals toward their future success in the industry. A critical part of this role is developing and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of golf operations, ensuring that every aspect of the member experience is consistently elevated.
Leadership & Culture
Establish Firefly’s golf culture, balancing excellence, exclusivity, and warmth.
Recruit, inspire, and mentor a high-performing team, including assistant professionals, outside services, and caddies.
Serve as a dedicated mentor to assistant professionals, advancing their skills, leadership, and PGA career paths.
Be a visible, approachable leader on the course and in the clubhouse, forging meaningful member relationships.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging all staff to seek opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and enhanced member satisfaction.
Golf Operations & Experience
Develop and manage all golf operations with a focus on service, tradition, innovation, and ongoing improvement.
Curate a program of tournaments, events, and experiences that showcase the Andrew Green-designed course.
Deliver a flawless daily golf experience that matches the prestige of Firefly while continuously refining operations to exceed expectations.
Instruction & Player Development
Provide top-tier private and group instruction for all skill levels.
Implement innovative player development programs that leverage advanced technologies.
Inspire a lifelong love of the game among juniors, women, and men alike.
Seek continual improvement in teaching methods, technology use, and player development initiatives.
Caddie Program
Establish a world-class caddie program that enhances the authenticity and tradition of Firefly.
Recruit and train caddies to embody Firefly’s commitment to service, professionalism, and excellence.
Integrate the program as a defining feature of the member golf experience while consistently refining processes for efficiency and service quality.
Merchandising & Financial Management
Curate a merchandising program reflective of Firefly’s luxury brand.
Develop and manage operational and capital budgets with financial discipline.
Track key performance indicators and seek continuous improvement in revenue management, inventory, and overall operations.
Collaboration & Strategy
Work in close partnership with the General Manager, Director of Agronomy, and other leaders to align vision and strategy.
Position Firefly within the broader golf community as a standard-bearer for exclusivity and excellence.
Build traditions and continuously enhance operational standards that will define Firefly’s identity for generations.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a history of excellence in elite private clubs, particularly in high-end start-up environments. They will combine operational sophistication with a genuine passion for the game, for people, and for creating unforgettable golf experiences. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment of continuous improvement, seeking ways to elevate both staff performance and member satisfaction on an ongoing basis.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Class A PGA Member in good standing.
Significant leadership experience in premier private club or luxury golf settings.
Proven success in new club launches or start-up operations.
Accomplished playing record, with a true enjoyment of playing with members of all ages and abilities.
Demonstrated commitment to developing and advancing the careers of assistant professionals.
Experience in establishing and managing a premier caddie program.
Strong knowledge of golf instruction, technology, and player development.
Commitment to fostering a continuous improvement culture across all areas of operations.
Polished, professional communication and relationship-building skills.
