Note - Two Different Head Professional Roles are Open
Frisco, TX | The entire PGA Frisco project spans 660 acres of a larger 2,500-acre development being master planned by Hunt Realty Investments. The golf operation consists of two 18-hole world class courses, a 10-hole short course, 70,000 sq. ft putting green, a 30-acre practice facility, a 40,000 square foot clubhouse and 12,000 square foot coaching center. Adjacent to the golf course is the Omni PGA Frisco Resort with 500 rooms and ten ranch houses, a 127,000 sq. ft. convention center, and a unique golf themed retail experience. The two Head Professionals will be joining the Omni team and report directly to Paul Earnest, Director of Golf and Operations. PGA Frisco is the new Home of the PGA of America and it's Member Professionals. The property also serves as the site for the Northern Texas PGA headquarters.
In the first twelve years of operation, PGA of America will conduct 26 championships at PGA Frisco, beginning with the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship and the PGA Junior League Championship (both in 2023).
Fields Ranch East
Gil Hanse designed the East Course, which will be home to major championships, including the 2027 PGA Championship. Gil’s design creatively takes advantage of the natural terrain to create a fair-but-tough test for the world’s best players. The East course stretches over 7,600 yards and provides a dramatic setting for crowning major champions.
Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco is designed to maximize the terrain’s natural potential, providing a compelling strategic challenge for all golfers. These organic advantages include rolling topography, dry washes and the meandering Panther Creek. These features are integrated within the layout of the course, which was extracted from the existing ground before anything else was modified.
The course’s other features were created to look like natural parts of the land. This allows the layout to draw its style and cues from the surrounding landscape. This subtle design principle is inspired by the restoration of Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, also done by Hanse Golf Course Design. Accordingly, the East Course features smallish greens with gentle rolls, strong slopes and false edges that place a premium on accurate approach shots. The features also resemble those used by legendary golf course architect Perry Maxwell, who was responsible for the original Southern Hills design. The bunkers are naturally rough hewn and blend in with the prairie grasses that surround the holes. The fairways use the same grass as the rough, allowing the corridors to be widened or narrowed based on required conditions for championship golf or day-to-day play. Finally, the tees can be varied, providing multiple options for the day-to-day course setup.
Outside the ropes, there is also enough room allocated to handle modern-day championship golf in a fashion that is tailored to the landscape and suits spectators. In essence, the East Course incorporates the best of the property’s natural features, provides strategic variety, considers the ever-present wind and showcases characteristics that look and feel traditional in their presentation. The result is a championship-level course that will challenge and thrill golfers for years to come.
Fields Ranch West
Beau Welling designed the West Course with the vision of creating a course that can challenge the best players in the world, but also have a sense of community gathering, where players of all skill levels can have a positive experience in a remarkable, naturalistic setting. The West stretches over 7,200 yards and has the highest elevation of the property, providing breathtaking views of the entire golf facility and surrounding landscape.
Set among North Texas’ rolling hills, Fields Ranch West at PGA Frisco offers an enjoyable, strategic test of golf. Highlighting the Blackland prairie setting, the course rambles along Frisco’s Panther Creek, surrounded by native field grasses, live oaks and mesquite trees – a true oasis amid the neighboring urban landscape. Featuring over 75 feet of elevation change, the routing takes advantage of the site’s natural character, as well as wetlands that serve as the habitat of native species.
The West Course has been strategically routed to support the holistic concept of PGA Frisco, complementing the other golf offerings within the Home of the PGA of America as a fun, yet challenging, golf experience that provides the perfect stage to further your enjoyment and development as a golfer.
The highly strategic nature of the golf course encourages shot-making and creativity from tee to green. The West Course’s expansive fairways are approximately 75 yards wide on average to promote enjoyment for golfers of all skill levels and encourage different routes of play. Teeing grounds are positioned within the fairway, giving flexibility to the course setup.
Shot values are emphasized as players will look to navigate the calculated bunker placements and large, undulating greens. The greens are maintained to be fast with low-cut surrounds that further inspire creativity and bump-and-run style play, while also necessitating accuracy and shot-making to produce scoring opportunities.
