ABOUT THE CLUB
Fiddlesticks Country Club was established in 1982 with residents enjoying an upscale and active lifestyle in a relaxed and comfortable country club setting. Fiddlesticks Country Club is member-owned, operated and has one of the most active memberships in Southwest Florida. Equity membership is mandatory for all residents, ensuring continued fiscal stability for generations to come. Club membership is limited to only 600 equity members, comprised of families of all ages, almost half of them year-round. The membership is active, engaged and energetic with record attendance for golf and social events.
Fiddlesticks Country Club offers an array of resort-style amenities including 36 holes of championship golf, bocce, tennis, pickle ball, swimming, fitness and wellness activities, and an abundant social calendar.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Fiddlesticks Country Club is seeking a Director of Golf with experience working in a high service, private club environment with a proven record of success leading a golf operations team. The Director of Golf will work closely with the Club’s General Manager to develop and implement all golf related activities and programs; including merchandising, club tournaments, outings, instructional/player development programs and staff management and development. The position requires a friendly and outgoing personality with the ability to professionally interact with members, guests and outing coordinators. The ability to communicate effectively with all of the Club’s constituents (members, guests, staff and management team) is a required skill. The Director of Golf is responsible for the detailed operation of all aspects of the golf course operation.
The Director of Golf reports to the General Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall performance of golf shop operations and golf services creating a team environment
Manage annual projects defined by the General Manager and evaluate/measure their success
Continuously review and develop standard operating procedures for each area of the golf business to ensure maximum member satisfaction
Responsible for the care and maintenance of all physical assets, inventory and resources of the golf facility
Develop, implement and maintain health and safety procedures that comply with standards and legislation. Ensure these are clearly communicated to all staff and regularly reviewed
Ability to develop and promote innovative programs to generate interest and maximize participation
Direct all golf activities including daily management responsibilities
Successfully train staff and management in a high service environment
Outstanding business skills associated with financial reporting, generating return on investment, maximizing revenues, budget development and expense management
Operational Responsibilities
When possible, play golf with members of all skill levels to generate member participation and enthusiasm
Organize and conduct club and inter-club tournaments and golf related events to drive member participation and satisfaction
Interpret and enforce “The Rules of Golf” among members and staff
Cooperate and collaborate with the grounds superintendent regarding maintenance issues that affect the playability of the golf course
Coordinate Golf Department Food and Beverage needs with the Food and Beverage department to ensure service is executed effectively
Enforce and recommend rules pertaining to the golf operations
Manage labor costs daily/weekly/monthly to maintain labor costs in line with operating budget without compromising the service provided to the members
Participate and assist in the development of short and long range plans for improvements to the club facilities and courses
Provide golf-related information for the Club’s newsletter and website that is friendly, enthusiastic and promotes play and goodwill within the golf community
Manage and facilitate new golf member’s orientation program
Interpersonal Responsibilities
Select, supervise, train and evaluate performance of pro shop, outside service staff and assistant professional employees
Provide effective leadership for the golf operations team giving directions to all managers and staff motivating and supporting them to achieve the Club’s vision and objectives
Ensure all members of the golf operations team have appropriate opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and experience to enhance their performance
Design, develop, deliver and monitor learning and development activities for the members and golf staff team to promote continuous training and improvement
Ensure that all employees in the golf business consistently deliver excellent customer service, thereby achieving maximum member satisfaction
Financial Responsibilities
Provide monthly reports on financial performance, stock control, and utilization of facilities, sales and marketing activity to assess the success of the operation on an ongoing manner
Participate in capital expense budgets to support the achievement of Club objectives
Establish, monitor and analyze the operations budget and take prompt corrective actions to address variances and deficiencies to ensure each operating area is maximizing efficiency and profitability
Achieve revenue and contribution targets for each aspect of the golf business
Marketing and Member Services
Identify and develop innovative programs for members including tournaments, social events and external promotions while ensuring that all activity is properly structured, communicated and executed
Establish, implement and review effective marketing strategies to maximize results and ROE (return on experience)
Identify and develop value added products and services to enhance the member’s experience
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (BA) is highly preferred
Class “A” PGA member in good standing
Minimum of 3 years experience in a Head Professional/Director of Golf position
5+ years of private club experience required
Requires a flexible schedule to include but not limited to evening hours, weekends and holidays
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Must be organized, efficient and detail oriented
Excellent interpersonal/relationship skills a must
Strong computer skills – Word, Excel, POS (Jonas) and Tee Sheet Management
