Indian Wells, CA | Rich in history and tradition, Eldorado Country Club is the premier private member-owned country club in the desert. The Club’s dramatic setting – a picturesque cove at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains in Indian Wells, California serves as the ideal backdrop to all Club activities. Since 1957, Eldorado members have enjoyed world-class facilities, camaraderie, and impeccable service.
Eldorado was founded in the late 1950s and has transformed into one of America’s great social and sporting facilities. The founders chose a unique site, an almost windless cove sheltered in the foothills east of Palm Springs. The course and clubhouse were finished just in time to host the Ryder Cup matches in 1959. That same year, President Dwight D. Eisenhower (who preferred to be called “General” by members) first visited Eldorado. He and Mrs. Eisenhower maintained a winter home on the 11th fairway.
The Ryder Cup and the Eisenhower Years are but two moments in time that contribute to a sense of pride and heritage that is ingrained in the Eldorado experience. While Eldorado has counted five United States Presidents among its membership, all members of Eldorado contribute to the Club’s unique culture and social fabric. Current members represent 39 states, three Canadian provinces, Europe, and Asia and membership is strictly by invitation only. Both members and staff pride themselves on living up to the Club’s tagline – “Our membership is the difference.”
Over the past twenty-five years, the Club has invested over $75 million in various capital programs. Most recently, the Club is developing a new state-of-the-art 21,000 sq. ft. Spa & Fitness complex including 2 swimming pools, a café adjacent to the driving range, bocce courts, treatment rooms, retail, and a salon. The original golf course was designed by Lawrence Hughes, an apprentice of the legendary Donald Ross. In 2003, the membership turned to America’s premier golf course architect, Tom Fazio, for a complete golf course renovation. In addition to the excellence of its athletic facilities and its extraordinary Tom Fazio golf course, the Club is committed to providing unparalleled dining offerings. Superb cuisine is featured in the clubhouse dining venues where members and guests enjoy an extraordinary view of the Santa Rosa Mountains.
