Established in 1957, Coronado Country Club has an 18-hole challenging mountain golf course designed by noted golf architect Lawrence M. Hughes, who also designed LaQuinta Country Club in LaQuinta, California. While designing Coronado Country Club he proclaimed while many golf courses enjoyed a view from one of its holes, Coronado Country Club enjoyed spectacular views from every hole! With Bermuda fairways where there is never a bad lie, the challenge of this mountain golf course is its incredible lightning fast bent grass greens! The full amenity Country Club Shop, 7 tennis courts, a fully equipped gym, championship sized swimming pool, banquet facilities and fine dining. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
PGA Class A-1 in good standing.
A valid driver's license
American Red Cross certification in lifesaving.
OTHER:
Must be available for emergency and scheduled work requirements on evenings, weekends or holidays.
Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 30 lbs.
Requires long periods of time standing; frequent bending.

Plan, promote and direct all golf activities including but not limited to Club events only.
Responsible for the direction, coordination and evaluation of golf operations; hire, train, schedule, manage, supervise and evaluates the personnel function to include but not limited to pro shop staff, teaching staff, cart shed/bag/club storage staff, ranger staff, outside golf staff. Carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the Club’s polices and applicable laws.
Prepare annual and monthly budget and operating plan for golf operations; identify and present other options that will increase revenue or reduce costs while maintaining the highest quality programs and services possible for the members; take corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
Administer, interpret and enforce all club rules and policies that govern the use of the course, golf cars, and other golf-related facilities.
Cooperate with the Golf Course Superintendent on maintenance issues that affect the playability of the golf course.
Under the direction of the golf committee, implement and administer a system governing the start of play and the handicap system.
Create and enforce in a consistent manner, all of the Club’s rules and regulations governing the use of the golf course, golf carts, and other golf facilities.
Oversee Club tournaments and related events by attending to the detail of staff dress, scorecards, scoreboards, and presentation of awards. Will also communicate with the Tournament Committee and the general manager as to suggested improvements to future tournaments at the conclusion of each tournament held
Is responsible for daily lineup of all staff to make sure staff uniforms and nametags are in place. Is responsible for training and mentoring inside, outside and young professional staff for CCC to achieve excellence out of our personnel. Additionally, must assist the inside staff to keep the shop clean, neat and professionally merchandised it all times.
Be open and interested in members’ suggestions, resolving issues as they arise, including presentation of more difficult issues and possible solutions to the General Manager.
Maintains pro shop inventory system, including special orders.
Selects, purchases, manages including inventory control the golf shop merchandise that features a range of quality merchandise and services reflective of members’ needs; oversee the special ordering of merchandise for members that provides the best service possible. Within 30 days after the close of the Club’s fiscal year will provide to the General Manager, a statement of financial position for the pro shop concession.
Provide competent golf instruction and supervise teaching staff; provide age-and skill-appropriate golf lessons to members and their guests; design and conduct golf clinics for all skill levels. Works with assistant pros to ensure their method of teaching lessons are consistent with the level of care insured by the entire teaching staff. Also designs and conducts junior and adult golf clinics and training programs.
Enthusiastically promote golf and golfing by designing/promoting/organizing/conducting activities such as men’s/ladies/juniors’ clinics & tournaments; play golf with members of all skill-levels to generate enthusiasm. Limit personal golf rounds to no more than twice a month.
Attends all staff, management, golf committee, green committee and any other meeting requested by the General Manager.
Consults daily with the superintendent regarding course strategy, trees and bunkers placement, fairways shape, height of fairways and rough, playability of the course, green speed, flag stick position, and mark tees location. Develops an A B C pin placement/cup location chart to be displayed in each golf cart to assure the proper rotation of pin placements to make each round varied.
Attend to the Tournament committee meetings to organize the Club annual tournaments including Canyon Capers, outings, men’s and woman’s city tournaments and six golf equipment demo days per year
Manage the range including purchasing of range balls, baskets and other needed equipment. Range management including setup and standard operating procedures. Manage the ball picker and ball dispenser machine and maintain them clean and working.
Supervise the rental and use of golf carts and maintenance of such equipment. Including the securing of additional golf carts during tournaments.
Manages bag storage and cleaning.
Provides and supervises marshals for tournaments and at other times as determined by the golf committee to ensure safety, golf etiquette, and pace of play.
Supervise proper charging to member’s accounts for the collection of fees from guests, green fees, cart fees, merchandise and services.
Represent the Club in professional golf activities in a reputable, professional manner with the approval of the general manager. Will participate in public relations efforts in and around the Club and community.
Adheres to all federal state and local laws regarding health, safety and employment.
Three months before the end of the fiscal year, will produce an operating budget and will suggest a capital budget with an explanation of variances or new items. Will always nurture and protect the tangible and intangible assets of the club which includes its employees.
Hire the Pro Shop Staff as necessary for good functionality and service in all areas are under his/her department.
Not exceed the Pro Shop personnel budget.
Schedule the Pro Shop personnel.
Direct work orders to all the Pro shop personnel.
Address to the office any issues with Pro shop personnel.
Supervise, the receiving and pricing of merchandise.
Meet the different vendors for spring and winter ordering.
Input the invoices in the CCC inventory control program.
Do the end of the month Pro Shop inventory.
Follow up on special orders.
Maintain the merchandise gross profits established by the Club.
Supervise the HDCP GHIN system.
Supervise the Pro Shop personnel for the cleaning of the Pro- Shop, Club storage, Golf Carts and its Storage, Club rack storage.
Schedule additional carts for large tournaments.
Follow up on private carts issues.
Attend CCC staff meetings.
Attend Executive or Board meetings when presence is required.
Attend golf committee meetings, working closely with superintendent regarding course strategy, trees and bunkers placement, fairways shape, height of fairways and rough, playability of the course, green speed, flag stick position, and mark tees location.
Attend Tournament committee meetings to organize the Club annual tournaments including Canyon Capers, outings, men’s and woman’s City tournaments and 6 demos day per year.
Manage the purchasing of Range Balls, baskets and other needed equipment. Manage the ball picker and ball dispenser machine and maintain them clean and working.
As a Head Professional, the personal appearance is very important for the Club. The PRO must dress properly with slacks, casual Shirts or T-Shirts.
Refrain from wearing any logo other than CCC.
Help with the appearance requested the Club will give PRO a credit of $150 per month (credit in proshop only, retail prices).
Evaluate all the facets of the Golf Operation for improvements.
Do everything is in his/her power to help build an immaculate image as a professional within the Club, the community & fellow professionals.
Assist and solve any problem regarding broken golf clubs, accidents occurred with golf carts or any other issue under the Pro Shop department.
SALARY: CCC will employ the PRO at an annual salary of $90,000 to $110,000
Total comp estimated between $130,000-$140,000
Health insurance for individual or family paid by Coronado Country Club
Be paid 100% of golf lessons - Expected income of up to $20,000
Be paid 100% of Golf Summer Camps/Golf programs (not club camps/Dusty)
Keep 100% of any golf company “staff deals” sponsor/merchandise
Receive a % of golf shop merchandise sales if budgeted COGS is achieved for pro shop sales. Estimated of up to $15,000
EXCLUSIVITY:
The PRO is an exclusive employee of Coronado Country Club and is not allowed to work for any other institution or job while he/she is receiving a salary from CCC. Violating this paragraph incurs in an immediate termination of the labor relationship. The PRO must stay current with and maintain his Class A PGA Professional status.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS:
If a vendor/s gives him/her gifts as: golf clubs, golf balls, golf bags, or any kind of appearance, he/she can keep them, but he cannot sell those gifts to any member or member guest or to any of the staff at any department that work for CCC. He/she must declare all gifts from every source to the general manager.
WORK TIME EXPECTATIONS:
Holidays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are obligatory working dates.
When the PRO has day/s off, a replacement must be assigned to be responsible for the day Pro-Shop operation and its Staff.
The Pro Shop must have pre-established the hours of the Pro-Shop operation which will vary depending on season of the year.
VACATION TIMES:
The PRO will notify with 30 days in advance the time wanted for vacation that will not exceed a total of two weeks per year. When important tournaments or golf events are scheduled the PRO cannot take vacation on those times.
The PRO also can take divide the vacation periods but those cannot exceed the total of two weeks per year.
GOLF SHOP MERCHANDISE:
The PRO will provide a monthly physical count of inventory of goods that will be audited by the Controller. The PRO’s responsibility is to achieve budgeted COGS in the pro shop.
RESIGNATION: A 15-day notification is required.
TERMINATION AND/OR LABOR CANCELATION: CCC will notify the PRO about his/her labor termination/cancelation, which will be effective at the time of notification.
