In 2022, Colonial membership approved a $75 million campus renovation. This is in addition to the golf course renovation that is being completed in 2024. These improvements are currently underway and projected to be completed by 2027.
Colonial’s facilities include:
18-hole golf course and practice facilities recently renovated by Gil Hanse.
A double tee driving range and two short game areas.
Full-service golf shop.
Three indoor and ten outdoor tennis courts as well as eight pickleball courts.
State-of-the-art fitness facility.
25-meter swimming pool with lap lane, deck service, and patio for poolside entertaining.
Clubhouse facilities with three dining rooms, three banquet rooms, spacious men’s and women’s locker rooms, and beautiful views of the golf course and downtown.
The Director of Instruction will report to the Director of Golf and manage the teaching, player development programs, and all related activities. Hospitality and a world-class daily experience is the highest priority along with building relationships with the membership.
Colonial’s golf professional team consists of 5 PGA Members and 2 PGA Associates. Dow Finsterwald, PGA serves as the Golf Professional Emeritus. Brian Schorsten, PGA is the Director of Golf. Alicia Singer, PGA is the Director of Retail. Assistant Professionals include Jeff Litwak, PGA, Cole Jones, PGA, Taylor Tivis, and Shea Hicks.
Complete oversight of the instruction programs including management of instructors, daily upkeep of the building, range, and all technology equipment.
Daily financial responsibilities include billing lessons and clinics and creating/submitting reports to the Director of Golf and payroll department.
Facilitate regular and consistent communication with staff, the Director of Golf, and Department Heads.
Maintenance and procurement of instructional equipment and aids in accordance with the budget.
Assist in monthly inventory of demo clubs; collaborate with assistant professionals on demo days and launches.
Develop and organize all marketing and publication materials relating to instructional programs as well as develop content and video tips.
Training of golf professionals to enhance program depth of teachers.
Contact and organize guest instructors and speakers including scheduling, pricing, and payment.
Play in events and with membership to enhance teaching.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Class A PGA Member or LPGA Member in good standing.
5-10 years of full-time teaching experience. Candidates must show how they have built and sustained their teaching clientele.
Experience at an upscale private golf facility.
Industry certifications are preferred (ie. Trackman, ADM, Master Professional).
A college degree is preferred, but not required.
Candidates must understand and showcase a hospitality mindset. Colonial is in the hospitality business.
Candidates should exemplify a humble attitude and put member service and experience before themselves on a daily basis.
Must be experienced and proficient in instructional technologies.
Experienced with annual budgeting for teaching programs.
Competitive reputation of playing ability and professionalism.
Base salary based on experience.
Percentage of Lesson Income.
