Sophomore
Your Sophomore year is the best time to start contacting coaches and being aggressive in the recruiting process.
Market Yourself
Checklist:
Create a list of schools to contact.
Decide what you’re looking for in a school (academics, values, location, etc) TIP: Even though you are looking for someone to say yes to you, you have to say yes to them as well.
Start sending introductory emails to coaches. (Coaches cannot contact you until after June 15th following 10th grade)
Share your schedule with coaches.
It is important to note:
The recruiting calendar - the appropriate times to reach out to coaches
With one year of high school under your belt, you should have enough content to put together a portfolio, resume, social media page or any other means to share your talents.
As a Sophomore you should start putting together a resume that allows you to highlight your time spent in the classroom and on the course.
What to include in your resume:
Graduation class
GPA
School
"Tournament scoring average, high school golf accolades and your NHSGA ranking, handicap, and Junior Golf Scoreboard ranking (if you have one). An added bonus would be to list out some of your most recent tournament rounds to provide additional context around your averages. I would suggest formatting your events with your score, total yardage played from, and the course rating/slope
DIGITAL PRESENCE
In addition to your resume, it is important to include something to highlight your skills in a digital presence.
Social Media
Many players find it helpful to create a social media page highlighting their golf skills. Attached is an example of an Instagram page that would be helpful to follow during the recruitment process.

Another great way to get on a coaches radar is sending them an email! Attached is an example of what a email should entail.
