Academic Checklist:
Prior to meeting with your guidance counselor:
Download your high school's list of NCAA-approved core courses
Download the NCAA Core Course GPA Calculator Worksheet
With your guidance counselor, review the NCAA core course requirements. You will need to pass a minimum of 16 core courses before graduation.
Create your free NCAA profile account. Give yourself at least 15-20 minutes to complete the initial registration.
Consider taking honors/AP courses, but only if you can maintain a high GPA and continue to do well in the classroom.
Start preparing for PSAT and Pre-ACT.
Find out when the date is for next year.
Look into tutors if you need extra help preparing.
Athletic Checklist:
Start to develop a golf resume and a list of past tournament results
Play in bigger events, not just high school golf
Register for regionally/nationally ranked tournaments
Coaches want to see you becoming as competitive as possible.
Establish a Ranking on Junior Golf Scoreboard
Begin creating swing videos.
Include video on Social Media and on your golf resume
Start contacting college coaches to get on their radar and let them know you are interested in their program. Email them your Marketing Plan:
Introduction letter
Swing video (not necessary at this early stage)
resume/bio (not necessary at this early stage)
Other Items To Do:
Consider creating an initial target college list. (Recommend a list of 30 or more colleges)
Try to plan out "Unofficial" college visits.
Start to figure out what type of college environment is the best fit for you.
Set Goals and learn your "why"
Set personal, academic, and athletic goals and track your progress
Do research on yourself on Google.
Do this to ensure all references, images, and videos on the internet portray you respectfully.
Be mindful on what you post because even if you think a coach can't see it, there is always someone watching.
Use Social Media as a tool to market yourself and to interact with teams.
A free Profile Page account is the right account if you are a college-bound student-athlete who is:
In high school and staying connected to receive the most current information from the NCAA Eligibility Center.
In middle school or earlier and wanting to learn more about college athletics.
Still deciding which NCAA division is right for you.
Planning to compete at an NCAA Division III school and have only attended a U.S. high school.
Registering to play at an NCAA-certified nonscholastic basketball event (BBCS, ECAG, AAU).

An Amateurism-Only Certification account is the right account for only a small number of students, including:
International college-bound student-athletes (first-year students and transfers) planning to compete at an NCAA Division III school.
This account may also be right for two- or four-year college transfers who plan to enroll for the first time at an NCAA Division I or II school. These students should speak with the compliance staff at the NCAA school they plan to attend to determine which account type is required for their situation.
This account (which does NOT include an academic certification) requires a registration fee of $70 for all students.
Our most common account for future NCAA student-athletes, an Academic and Amateurism Certification account is the right account for college-bound student-athletes who are planning to:
Compete at an NCAA Division I or II school.
Take an official visit.
Sign a National Letter of Intent.
This account includes a registration fee of $100 for domestic students and $160 for International students.
