ABOUT THE CAROLINAS PGA
The Carolinas PGA Section (CPGA), located in Greensboro, North Carolina, is one of 41 Sections of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. The PGA of America, formed in 1916, has grown into the world's largest working sports organization with more than 30,000 members and apprentices. Its mission is to promote enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to the game's growth by providing services to golf professionals and the industry. The CPGA was founded at Greensboro Country Club in 1923 and officially recognized by the PGA of America in 1940. The CPGA consists of approximately 2,300 golf professionals in North Carolina, South Carolina, and a small portion of Virginia.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Title: Director of Marketing
Reports to: Director of Corporate Partnerships & Assistant Executive Director, Championships & Development
Position Description: The Director of Marketing is responsible for the effective communications of the Carolinas PGA Section and PGA REACH Carolinas Foundation. This will include internal communications to Section membership, as well as external public relations. The position will also oversee the administration of the Section’s annual awards and Hall of Fame inductions, as well as the annual Special Awards & Honors Dinner. The Director of Marketing reports directly to the Director of Corporate Partnerships as well as the department head (Assistant Executive Director, Championships & Development) and will serve out of the Carolinas PGA Section office in Greensboro, NC.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Marketing & Communications: Oversight and management of CPGA mass communications and marketing. Responsible for daily website maintenance, content, and accuracy. Supervision and planning for all communications including weekly e-newsletters to CPGA membership, media releases, online directory & monthly PGA Magazine submissions.
Social Media: Responsible for managing and executing the CPGA social media strategy for multiple current and future platforms (e.g. Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube) and creating and managing the CPGA content calendar.
External Public & Media Relations: Promote the value and activity of PGA professionals through press releases, advertorials, PSAs, social media channels, etc.
Partner/Sponsor Promotion: Assist senior staff with sponsorship promotion, fulfillment & content creation, as well as on-site activation at major tournaments and events.
Consumer Database: Maintain and grow the consumer database while developing strategies to increase contacts and utilize them to promote the CPGA and our professionals, as well as promote partners & sponsors.
Tournament/Event Promotion: Assist tournament and event staff with promoting the event schedule, coordinating post-round event releases and recaps, and conducting on-site content creation.
CPGA Super Show: Assist with the coordination & promotion of the CPGA’s annual SUPER SHOW (Annual Meeting & Merchandise Show), with specific coordination of the Special Awards & Honors Dinner annually.
Awards & Honors Committee: Serve as the staff liaison to the Awards and Hall of Fame Committees. Oversee the Section awards and Hall of Fame nomination and selection process and organize the annual Section awards and Hall of Fame Ceremony.
2025 PGA Championship: Coordinate promotion of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC, and assist with all Section involvement with the event, along with any other future major championships held within the Carolinas Section boundaries.
PGA REACH Foundation: Assist with the marketing, promotion, and event management of the Section’s 501(c)3 foundation: PGA REACH Carolinas and its Drive, Chip & Putt, PGA Junior League, and annual REACH Pro-Am events.
Other Duties as Assigned: The CPGA currently has a full-time staff of 11 employees, two PGA WORKS Fellows, and two seasonal interns. Our team is cross-trained in certain areas to support fellow co-workers.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Required:
A passion for golf! Participation & interest in the game of golf is a must.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.), preferably in Marketing, Communications/Media & Promotions or related fields.
Proficiency in oral, written, and interpersonal communications, including public speaking and presentations.
The position must be able to use emerging communications technologies/platforms and design skills to execute a multimedia social strategy that includes graphics, photography, and video.
Skills in planning and organizing, event management, and managing multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and a creative mindset.
Ability to travel frequently within the CPGA geographic boundaries and work some nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Positive and upbeat personality, high-energy individual.
Previous experience with the following programs is a plus: Gmail/Google Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, MailChimp, and Survey Monkey.
Ability to present self and appearance professionally.
Team player motivated by the success of the organization over any personal gain.
Preferred:
Knowledge of tournament administration, the golf industry, and PGA of America activities, programs, and governance.
1 to 2 years of experience in a similar field, preferably within the PGA or allied golf association.
PGA Member or Associate is a plus, but not required.
Physical Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. This position must be able to travel for extended periods of time in various modes of transportation.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and have the stamina to work both indoors and outdoors in cold and hot climates.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The employee must be able to drive the company vehicle/van and/or drive to and from various locations throughout the Section.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Section will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Starting base salary range of $60,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Bonus potential of up to 10% of base salary (tied to performance goals & objectives), a competitive benefit package is also offered including paid vacations, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, & life insurance, cell phone allowance, laptop computer provided, PGA dues paid (if applicable) and a 3% company-contributed 401k plan. Compensation day (paid time off) policy exists for weekend days worked or long-term travel as approved by the manager.
