Title: Head Golf Professional
Reports to: General Manager/Chief Operating Officer and Director of Golf
Position Description: The Head Golf Professional is responsible for day-to-day operations such as merchandising, tournaments, instruction, and is being developed to assume the role of the Director of Golf, who oversees the entire golf operation, additionally including strategy, budgeting, and staffing. Given that the Head Golf Professional is being groomed to become the Director of Golf, the Head Golf Professional will work with the Director of Golf on day-to-day operations and the GM/COO on a development plan to assume the Director of Golf role upon the incumbent’s near-term retirement.
Create a culture of high energy and personable service that promotes the game of golf, consistently surpassing the expectations of a diverse Ownership.
Continuously improve Owner and guest golf experience that translates into higher utilization of the golf amenity.
Supervise the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of the golf professional staff, outside services staff, golf shop personnel, and golf cart maintenance personnel, holding all to the highest standards.
Establish an inclusionary atmosphere in the golf operation that encourages Owners of all skill levels – including non-golfers - to utilize club facilities more actively.
Prepare, implement, and oversee the golf tournament program, expertly managing and promoting existing events while creatively adding new events designed to encourage increased participation among all Owners and spouses.
Actively mentor Associate Professionals, attracting high performers to the professional staff, mentoring, and preparing them for career advancement.
Establish high-energy and creative golf instruction programs meeting the needs of golfers of all skill levels.
Oversee Golf Retail with a goal of increasing annual sales and gross margins through intelligent merchandise selection and creative merchandising techniques.
Prepare annual and monthly budgets for golf operations: take corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget revenue goals are attained and expenses are managed within plan.
Schedule staff hours to ensure that Owners are fully served and that labor cost goals are achieved.
Play golf with Owners of all skill levels to generate enthusiasm.
Maintain a visible presence on the course during peak times of play.
Overall management of 45 golf cart fleet.
Collaborate with all department heads to ensure peak Owners experiences across the entire club.
As directed by the General Manager/COO and the Director of Golf:
Assist in the publication of newsletters, informational, and promotional materials.
Implement and administer a system of governing the start of play, the pace of play, and the handicap system.
Attend all staff, management, golf committee, and other applicable meetings.
Assist in improving the service levels in the locker room, shoe room, club storage, and other areas as requested.
Attend national and sectional conferences and meetings, merchandise shows, educational and professional shows to encourage development and enhance the quality and image of the Club.
Perform other appropriate tasks as assigned by the GM/COO.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Must be a PGA member in good standing.
Head Golf Professional and/or Supervisory Experience Preferred.
High energy and personable.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Expert in all phases of high-quality, private club golf operations and management.
Working knowledge of golf course agronomy and design.
Working knowledge of club repair, ability to perform minor repairs on site.
Ability to multitask while remaining focused on the key objectives of the position.
College degree preferred.

The club will provide a compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Base pay for Head Golf Professional starting at $100,000 (higher base pay commiserate with experience/previous results)
Pay rate will be adjusted/increased when the selected candidate is elevated to the Director of Golf Position.
