ABOUT BLACK CREEK CLUB

Chattanooga, TN |  Opened in September, 2000, Black Creek Club was designed by Golf World's 1999 Architect of the Year, Brian Silva. Black Creek was one of the first modern courses to embrace the firm and fast, strategic design elements of the "Golden Age of Golf Course Architecture,” which in the ensuing two decades has become a main driver behind the resurgence in the popularity of golf. Black Creek was specifically created to be what Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor would have built if they saw the modern game. Those architects from the early 20th century built such masterpieces as The National Golf Links of America, Yeamans Hall Club, St. Louis Country Club, and The Chicago Golf Club, among many other premier courses.

Black Creek has received high praise in its 22 years, ranging from Golfweek's Top 100 Modern Golf Courses in 2003, to Golf Digest's Top 10 Courses in Tennessee, to being the only course in Tennessee to be included among Golfweek’s Best Residential Golf Courses in America. Black Creek believes in participating in the golf community by hosting local, state, and national tournaments, and has hosted numerous state championships, as well as the Nationwide Tour's Chattanooga Classic for 8 years. In September 2005, Black Creek welcomed the stroke-play portion of the 25th U.S.G.A. Mid-Amateur Championship, with The Honors Course in nearby Ooltewah serving as the host course for the championship.  There are 4 currently active members of the PGA Tour who played their high school golf at Black Creek Club.

The Club also serves as the social and recreational hub for the surrounding community of Black Creek, which covers over 3000 acres, almost entirely within the city limits of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Club and its aesthetic are major components of the community’s brand, as well as that of the Club. Homeowners within the community are not required to be members of the Club, although many are; and the Club also has members from outside the community, including several National members.

DINING AND OTHER AMENITIES

The Club offers casual, club fare with a maximum capacity of about 100, in a main dining room, a smaller “private dining room,” and a terrace overlooking the golf course and pool. The menu is rotated seasonally. The Club also offers poolside food and beverage service during the summer months.

The Club keeps a broad selection of wines from many regions and  has a casual bar, also in the clubhouse, that offers a wide selection of premium liquors, craft beer, domestic and imported beers, as well as draft beer.

Other Amenities:

In addition to the Championship 18-hole golf course, the Club has a two-level, resort-style pool with an infinity edge separating the adults only pool from the lower level family pool.

The Club keeps a fully stocked Pro Shop, and the golf staff includes two Class A PGA professionals, assistants for the shop, and a staff of outside attendants that help members with their equipment and carts. The carts are equipped with GPS maps of the golf course, with precise yardages to the hole locations of the day. These GPS-equipped carts can also restrict off-limits areas through geofencing.

The Club has two tennis courts, which are also lined for pickleball.

The Club has a small fitness center with treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, a rowing machine, free weights, and other resistance equipment. The fitness center also has steam rooms and showers for women and men. The Clubhouse has saunas and showers in both Men’s and Women’s locker rooms, as well as lockers that are available for monthly rental.

The Club also hosts in its Training Center, the Academy at Black Creek Club, which is led by Kiel Alderink, a “Top 100 under 40” Golf Digest instructor.

CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE

Chattanooga is located in the southeast corner of Tennessee on the border of Georgia, about halfway between Atlanta, Georgia and Nashville.  Chattanooga is the fourth largest city in Tennessee, and the seat of Hamilton County.

Chattanooga enjoys a pleasant change of seasons, with July the warmest with an average temperature just below 90 degrees and January the coldest month with an average temperature just under 50 degrees. On average, Chattanooga receives approximately 54 inches of precipitation and very little snowfall.

There are two professional sports that call Chattanooga home, the Chattanooga Lookouts baseball team which is a Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds and the Tennessee River Sharks which is a National Indoor Football League team (NIFL). Chattanooga is also home to the NCAA Division I-AA national football championships every year at Finley Stadium, on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

There are numerous "must see" attractions in Chattanooga, including the Rock City Gardens, Riverbend Festival (week-long music) and the fabulous Tennessee Aquarium, the world's largest freshwater aquarium.

Sports and natural beauty aren't the only reasons to consider moving to Chattanooga. Affordability is another major incentive. The cost of buying a home in Chattanooga is less than it is in many other major metro areas around the country. Property taxes are low, and there is also no state income tax in Tennessee.
