Timonium, MD | Founded in 1898, Baltimore Country Club features 36 holes of championship golf and represents a service-oriented operation with an emphasis on tradition and gracious hospitality. BCC is one of only twelve clubs nationwide to operate on two campuses.
The A. W. Tillinghast designed Par 70 East Course, with back-to-front pitched greens, limited water hazards, and 96 bunkers, has received many honors, including making Golfweek's list of "America's Top 100 Classic Courses" (pre 1960) numerous times, most recently in 2020. It is also listed as the best Classic or Modern (post 1960 design) Course in the state of Maryland. A restoration project was completed in 2015 by Keith Foster, bringing the course back to Tillinghast's original 1924 design.
Baltimore Country Club's second course at Five Farms, the West, was redesigned in 1990 by Bob Cupp and Champions Tour member and World Golf Hall of Fame member, Tom Kite. In 2012, the course was renovated under the direction of Keith Foster. The Par 72 West Course gives members two outstanding golf courses to choose from on a daily basis.
The Club was named one of the "100 Most Prestigious Clubs in the World" by LINKS magazine. The USGA lists Baltimore Country Club as one of the first 100 clubs established in the United States.

The Club has approximately 3,300 total members, including 1,100+ season golfers. Approximately 43,000 annual rounds are played, with 60% played on the East Course and 40% played on the West Course. The golf season runs from April 1st thru October 30th.

The Head Golf Professional, reporting to the Director of Golf, is responsible for managing, overseeing, and assisting in all facets of the golf operation. The Golf operations include managing and coordinating golf outings and tournaments, scheduling golf house personnel and tee times, recommending and implementing standards and policies for golf house services and establishing, managing, and reporting on the financial performance of the golf operation and mentoring Assistant Golf Professionals for future development.
Other responsibilities would include providing golf lessons and golf fittings on a limited basis. The responsibilities of this position will be performed by the individual or through the direct reports of the position, such as the Assistant Golf Professionals, Interns, and Golf Services Associates.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervising the day-to-day activities of Golf operation and it’s personnel such as the Assistant Golf Professionals, Interns, Golf Services Associates including hiring, scheduling, directing, training and managing performance.
Assist and work alongside the Director of Golf to mentor and provide firsthand experience to Assistant Golf Professionals to promote growth and career development from Baltimore Country Club.
Preparing the work schedule for the Golf House personnel, ensuring the Golf House is staffed to provide exceptional services to the members and their guests based on planned and anticipated activities and that the staffing schedules is developed to minimize labor costs and are within budget parameters.
Assisting members with any billing questions or resolution of issues as they relate to the Golf operations, such as cart and guest fees.
Knowledge of all major golf club manufactures that the Club carries to ensure the staff is properly educated and trained with club fitting programs offered to the membership.
Managing, coordinating, and facilitating all golf outings and tournaments, independently handling them or through direct reports to ensure they are well planned and fully staffed so that the event is successful in meeting the Club’s expectations superior quality.
Working with Outside Golf Services to ensure all related activities are effectively coordinated between Golf House Services and Outside Golf Services, including effectively communicating and coordinating events, activities, and schedules, making recommendations for improvements and implementing enhancements.
Working with Grounds Services to ensure all related activities are effectively coordinated between Golf House Services and Grounds Services, including effectively communicating and coordinating events, activities and schedules, making recommendations for improvements and implementing enhancements.
Working with Food and Beverage Services and Culinary to ensure all related activities are effectively coordinated between Golf House Services and Grounds Services, including effectively communicating and coordinating events, activities, and schedules, making recommendations for improvements, and implementing enhancements.
Assisting with the purchasing, pricing, stocking, displaying and inventory management of Golf House merchandise, making recommendations and assisting in the implementation of enhancements that meet the needs of the members and guest and increase sales and profitability.
Assist the Director of Golf in developing strategies that promote golf services, to the membership and enhance the members and guest experiences at the Club, developing and managing the department’s budget, facilitating department meetings, and preparing communication materials.
Promote golf instruction and refer instructional opportunities to the Director of Instruction and the entire Instructional team at Baltimore Country Club.
Interpreting and implementing the rules and regulations governing both golf and daily club activity.
Assisting members and guests in answering their questions and addressing and resolving any concerns or issues.
As needed performs other duties to deliver exceptional services to the members and their guests.
Represent BCC in Section or Pro-am Events along with playing with the membership to foster meaningful relationships.
PGA Class A member in good standing
Proven experience as a golf professional.
Previous country club or resort experience in golf services is preferred.
Minimum of 6 to 8 years working experience as a professional, with the last three as First Assistant at Top Level Facility or a minimum of 2 to 4 years as a Head Professional
Outgoing personality with exceptional customer service and training skills.
Previous experience or a working knowledge of outside golf services.
Previous supervisory experience is required.
Computer literacy in Golf Genius, Microsoft office and basic software programs related to reservations.
A high school diploma or equivalent degree, certification or related experience.
Strong interpersonal skills required, must be personable and enthusiastic and can effectively work as a team member and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
