College & Career Center

End of the Semester!

Class of 2024 the first semester of Senior year is coming to a close. Too quickly for some; others, not soon enough. Where ever you find yourself, know that now is the time to think about life after Weiss!

The College & Career Center is here to help you with any and all questions related to the military, college, trade school, and starting your career.

Make sure you check Schoolinks for everything: college acceptances, viewing and sending transcripts, finding scholarships, etc.

NOTE: If you do not add your application to Schoolinks, I will NOT know to send your transcript to the college/university. Please add and update your status regularly.

FAFSA is set to open BY December 31st... (waiting...). View this FAFSA/TAFSA Checklist to be prepared.  The PfISD College & Career team will host several Pfinance Your Future FAFSA/TAFSA Workshops in January. Please register here for more information.

Come see me in the CCC!

Hello Class of 2024 & Families!

Welcome to your senior year. I am excited to work with each of you throughout your senior year and beyond. Please forgive me for the long message, but this will have quite a bit of important information whether you plan to attend a college, trade school, enlist in the military, or begin a career after high school.

TSI Testing – If your student has not yet passed the TSI, we will have multiple opportunities each month for them to test. Although, not mandatory…being TSI complete can make sure that they do not have to take extra classes in college and may help them with coursework during their senior year as well! Earning an "off-period requires" that you have successfully passed BOTH the Math TSI and the ELA with essay TSI (or earning an exemption with your SAT/ACT scores).

SAT Testing – The next available SAT test to sign up for will be August 25th, 2023. To sign up for this opportunity, please have your student log into their College Board account. If you are on Free or Reduced Lunch (or the fee may cause your family financial harm), you may qualify to test for free. Please reach out to your college and career advisor for assistance signing up or gaining the fee waiver.

College Applications:

*College Applications open August 1st, and we encourage you to complete the applications by September 15th.*

Career/Job Opportunities/Trade Schools – If you are looking for a job this fall or would like to learn more about career opportunities after high school, please email Mrs. Honey (haley.honey@pfisd.net). I am always available to assist.

Military Recruitment: Come to our Military Fair on August 3rd @ Hendrickson High School to hear from recruiters in all military branches and the exciting career opportunities that await.

I look forward to assisting your family through this journey!
