PfISD Summer Strings

Pflugerville ISD is excited to offer FREE violin, viola, or guitar group lessons for any current 5th-11th grade PfISD student. This opportunity is made possible through federal grant funding.

📍 Classes will be held at Timmerman Elementary School (412 Swenson Farms Blvd).

📅 Classes will meet daily Monday-Thursday for 1 hour per day for three weeks.

🚗 Parents/Guardians will be responsible for student drop off and pick up at Timmerman Elementary.

👏 Students will showcase what they’ve learned during a brief recital for family & friends on the final class day!

⚠️ Space is limited to 12 students per class, and spots will be filled in the order applications are received.

Goals of the Summer Strings Program

Create meaningful musical experiences that connect with students’ interests and backgrounds.
Create a welcoming and inclusive program where all students feel valued, encouraged, and capable of growth.
Provide beginner students with a positive and engaging introduction to a new instrument while building foundational instrumental technique, music literacy, and musicianship skills.
Assess intermediate students’ current skill levels and provide individualized instruction that helps them continue to grow as musicians.
Teach transferable life skills such as perseverance, responsibility, focus, teamwork, self-discipline, problem-solving, communication, and goal setting.
Build students’ confidence by giving them opportunities to perform, take risks, and experience success in a supportive environment.
Provide students with an opportunity to share their growth and accomplishments through an informal recital for family and friends on the final day of the program.
Strengthen positive relationships between schools, families, and the community through accessible music education opportunities.
