David Barnes is the Director of Bands at Park Crest Middle School in Pflugerville ISD. He directs the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, and also teaches beginning brass and percussion classes.
Mr. Barnes earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Baylor University in Waco, TX, and a Master of Music Degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He has studied with Michael Mulcahy, Dr. Mallory Thompson, David Jackson and Michael Haithcock as well as participating in master classes with numerous world class trombonists.
David began his teaching career in the fall of 2000 in Roma Texas, then taught private lessons for the Leander Independent School District before becoming an associate director at Cedar Park Middle School in 2003 where he taught until the spring of 2018. He is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi. David lives in Round Rock, Texas with his three sons, James, Lowell and Korben.
Jackie Fullerton is in her 22nd year of teaching and this will be her first year as assistant band director at Park Crest Middle School. Ms. Fullerton will be teaching the Honors Band, woodwind beginner classes and assisting with the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band.
Before arriving at PCMS, Mrs. Fullerton spent 3 years as Director of Bands at Cedar Creek Middle School in Bastrop ISD and 18 years at Forbes Middle School in Georgetown ISD. Under the direction of Jackie Fullerton, both the Cedar Creek Middle School and the Forbes Middle School Honors Wind Ensembles earned consistent UIL Sweepstakes Awards and “Best in Class” awards at various music festivals throughout the state of Texas. In 2004 and 2017 the Forbes Middle School Honors Band was named a finalist in the Texas Music Educators Association State Honor Band Competition. In 2009, the Forbes Middle School Honors Band was invited to perform at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. The Forbes Middle School Band was presented with the prestigious John Philip Sousa Sudler Cup Award in 2010-2011 and Ms. Fullerton was also honored as Forbes Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2011.
Ms. Fullerton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Oboe Performance from Texas Tech University. While a student at the University, she performed with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of James Sudduth and Dr. John Cody Birdwell. Mrs. Fullerton also performed with the Symphony Orchestra and studied conducting with the guidance of Gary Lewis.
Ms. Fullerton’s professional affiliations include: the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, Phi Beta Mu and Texas Music Adjudicators Association. Mrs. Fullerton is an active clinician in the state of Texas.
While not in the band hall, Mrs. Fullerton spends time with her family. Her hobbies include: running, shopping and reading.
