Primary Grades (K-2)

Math/Science

ELA/SS

  • Go to https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/games/funny-fill-in/. Complete one of the Funny Fill-ins. Try to create your own funny fill-in and have a family member complete it.

  • Read a story online or with your family. Find materials at your house such as old socks, paper bags, etc. to create a puppet show for your family based on the story you read. Make sure to get permission to use the materials from parents.

  • Get a jump rope and a family member. Create your own jump rope rhyme to say as you jump rope. Practice and add to your rhyme each day.

  • Go to https://artsandculture.google.com/project/national-park-service. Explore a national park and make a brochure about it. Optional Extension: Create your own national park and make a map with a legend.

  • Write or tell an alternate ending to one of your favorite books. What if one incident didn’t happen? What if a different event occurred? How would this story change or differ from the original?

Fine Arts

  • Go to https://youtu.be/LqtWk0jQObI. Watch the video. What kind of pattern do you notice? Create your own pattern with clapping and tapping. What other motions could you include?

Intermediate Grades (3-5)

Math/Science

  • Go to https://www.chesskid.com/ and learn how to play chess. Write a journal entry about what you thought about learning chess. You could also teach a parent or sibling how to play via Chess Kid.

  • Where is Timbuktu? Go to https://wonderopolis.org/wonder/Where-Is-Timbuktu. Read the article and watch the related videos (if able). Do you think it's important to protect ancient cities? Why or why not? Write a letter or email to a friend or family member explaining your position. Be sure to include solid reasons and examples to support your opinion. Optional Extension: You can still visit Timbuktu virtually and see the mosques that made the city famous. Check out the United Nations World Heritage Site webpage for Timbuktu online. You can read about the mosques and also see pictures of them in their former glory. What do you find most interesting about Timbuktu? Discuss with a friend or family member.

You can either draw a plan, write about it, create an online document, or physically build the structure with Legos, etc.

  • Go to https://www.wthr.com/article/world-famous-museums-open-virtual-tours-help-keep-kids-entertained. Create your own museum exhibit or a plan for a museum layout. You can do this digitally or on paper.

Fine Arts

  • Go to https://www.onemotion.com/drum-machine/ and experiment with the drum machine. Create your own patterns and/or song with background beats. Your songs could be about anything you are experiencing in your life, about friends, pets, etc.
