Point Fortin East Secondary School aims to encourage students to realize their full potential by fostering a spirit of self reliance and cultivating social, moral and cultural values.
Point Fortin College, the third Government Secondary School to be built in the island, after QRC and St. George’s College, and the first in south, is under construction.
In January PFC opens with an enrollment of seventy five students, in two classrooms, run by the Principal, Mr. Ralph Guevara and one teacher, Mr. Thomas Sampson.
In May 1960, Mr. William Dudley Issac, an Irish Classical Scholar, replaces Mr. Guevara. Mr. Issac gives the school and its students a distinctive identity.
The house system is instituted. The houses are named for the first four letters of the alphabet, A B C D.
Point Fortin College has its full complement of teachers and five hundred students enrolled.
The first group of O’ Level graduates ascend into sixth form where the emphasis is on Languages- Spanish, French and Latin.
Mr. W. D. Issac retires. Of his tenure at PFC he writes: ‘Point Fortin College has been my spiritual child. I have watched its development and delicate childhood to vigorous adolescence; and each year I shall keep myself informed of its progress’.

Our first A’ Level students graduate. Scholars such as: K. Cruickshank, G. Alleyne, A. Andrews, M. Lynch and C. Roberts gain straight As in their subjects.
The advent of VSOs (Voluntary Service Organization) and CUSOs (Canadian United Students Overseas). Foreigners employed to fill the teacher shortage in Trinidad. Teachers such as: Nigel Hughes, Joan Climanhaga, Joan Lettbridge, John Shah and Malcolm Jones became members of staff.
The houses are named after famous figures in history: Socrates, Camacho, Luther King, Armstrong and Gibon.
The expansion of the school begins with a multipurpose hall, a block of classrooms facing the main road, the two and three story buildings and Agricultural Science facilities.
The first batch of P.F.J.S.S are accommodated in block A classrooms (facing the main road) because of the incompletion of their school.
More than 500 Junior Secondary students, most from Penal Junior Secondary, join PFC. The population rises to almost 1200 and teaching staff is increased by twenty.
Mrs. Anita Lee Young, a Latin/English mistress during Mr. Issac’s reign, becomes our first female Principal.
Point Fortin Senior Secondary celebrates its 25th Anniversary.
Mr. Gene Baccus becomes Principal. He institutes a change in the girls’ uniform. The inverted pleat and maverick tie gave way to longer fully pleated skirts and a full tie.
Mrs. Margaret Boodoosingh Fonrose, former French teacher at P.F.C. and principal at P.F.J.S.S., returns as principal of P.F.S.S.S.
PFSSS celebrates its 40th Anniversary. Our Alumni Association is launched on October 7th at a reunion dinner. Fitzroy Harewood is our Association’s President.
