PANEL CHANGES

An electrical panel may need to be replaced for many reasons

1. You need more breaker spaces. 

   1. when adding a hot tub, car charger, outdoor kitchen, tankless water heater, or a generator hookup you will need extra space in the electrical panel that you don’t have.

2. Your electrical panel has been damaged 

   1. An overload on the electrical panel can damage the panel beyond repair and will have to be replaced. 

3. A home inspector has noted an issue with the panel before the sale of the house.

   1. age, style (fuses or breaker), brand name, location, and condition are all factors that inspectors look at when reporting on the electrical panel. 

4. A home insurance company is requiring a panel change to continue coverage. 

   1. certain brands have been known fail and cause damage;zynsco/sylvania, Federal pacific electric stab-lok, challenger, and pushmatic are all brands that are flagged by insurance adjusters.

5. The age of the electrical panel. 

   1. The lifespan of an electrical panel is between 25 to 40 years.

An electrical service may need to be upgraded for several reasons

1. An addition to the house that is requiring more power than the existing electrical service can handle. 

2. You may be adding a new appliance or piece of equipment and the existing service is not large enough to support it. 

   1. Car charger 

   2. Tankless water heater. 

   3. Solar system. 

   4. garage workshop equipment.
