"A touch of drama, comedy, and romance. A powerful and compelling performance! A MUST SEE FOR EVERYONE! Let’s break the stigma!" #PETAUnderMySkin - Billy Santo, HIV Advocate
"The 2020 theater season is off to a promising start with PETA’s ‘Under My Skin,’ which opens on Friday. PETA has been open about this being an advocacy play to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS, especially among the younger Filipinos (15-24), which comprise the largest group among the new infections. Playwright Rody Vera crammed his play with all sorts of medical information, pertinent timelines, and solid advice, coupled with interesting video projections and a confident performance by Cherry Pie Picache as a no-nonsense doctor.
This straightforward tone is also carried through in the dramatic monologues culled from real-life stories of people struggling with the disease and the social stigma still attached to it. Despite the topic, ‘Under My Skin’ refuses to wallow in desperation and, in fact, ends on a positive note, with the message that life indeed goes on."
