Room C1 - A Multi-Grade Classroom (Grade 3 & 4)
The emphasis is on attaining skills and progress based on a student's interests, abilities, and joyful natural curiosity.
"Problem-solving, higher-level thinking, and learning from peers, are all skills that naturally develop at an earlier point in multi-grade classrooms simply because of the immersion experienced by the children together." (Song, Spradlin, & Plucker, 2009).
1st Quarter:
Math - Place Value, Read and Write Numbers, Comparing & Rounding Numbers, Word Problems
Reading - Making Predictions, Main Idea & Key Details, Theme, Compare & Contrast, Point of View
Writing - Narrative & Informational/Expository (integrated across subject areas)
Social Studies - Rights, Responsibilities, Power/Authority, Early Hawaiian Environment Interaction
Science - Life Cycles, Plants, and Animals
Student desks will be 6 ft. apart from each other, sideways and front to back.
Students will be spaced apart using the colored circles on the ground while waiting in line.
Students will only be using their own supplies, sharing will not be allowed.
Students will be eating their lunches in the cafeteria following social distancing guidelines.
There will be no assemblies or large gatherings.
Recess times for all classes will be staggered and no equipment will be distributed to the students.
New bathroom procedures will follow social distancing guidelines.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance will be mandatory and not optional as it was in quarter 4 of last school year.
Attendance will be monitored by:
Online morning check ins
Attendance at online group sessions
In-class attendance (for those who are face-to-face)
Online completion of work
TARDY POLICY
Students will be considered tardy:
If they do not attend the 8:00 am morning check in (for virtual learning)
If they arrive after 7:45 am (for face to face instruction)
