Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How are students selected for Title One services?
At the beginning of the year, all students are given benchmark assessments. If students are falling below grade level according to those benchmark assessments, then they are given additional assessments to determine if they qualify for Title One services.
What will my child be learning in Title One?
Depending on the grade level of your child, they will be instructed using a research based program designed to help close the gap between where they are and where they should be according to their grade. Younger students K-2 will work on various phonics skills. Older students 3-4 will work on reading fluency and comprehension.
How will I be notified of my child's progress in Title One?
Every 5-6 weeks parents/ guardians will be sent an intervention update. The intervention update will show the progress your student has made toward their goal. Parents/ guardians will also be sent a newsletter from the Title team around the same time.
What is benchmarking? How often does it take place?
Benchmark assessments are given to all students three times each year Fall, Winter and Spring. These are standardized assessments that are used to determine where students are performing compared to other students within their grade level. These results are then used to help determine if students will qualify for Title One services.
