This site is intended to answer any questions that we regularly hear from our Perch+ partners. If there's a question you'd like answered (and don't see), please email Jake@perchhq.com.
We're extremely grateful that you've chosen to partner with us and are here to help any time!
It depends on when you join, but usually about a month.
Upon joining, we will announce your brand's inclusion in the Perch+ program via our affiliate newsletter. From there, order requests will begin, affiliates will start sharing your products, and sales will be generated. Our affiliates are paid on a net 30 basis and have until the end of each month to report on the previous month's sales data. Thus, we won't have a complete list of attributed sales until all our affiliates have reported.
Within the first few days of each month, we build custom Perch+ brand reports with the sales data and an updated list of articles and live streams, including your brand's products. When complete, you'll receive an email with a link to the report and an invoice from our accounts receivable department.
No, Amazon doesn't provide its affiliates with Order IDs. We receive a file that includes the following: ASIN, Seller, Tracking ID, Date Shipped, Price($), Items Shipped, Returns & Revenue($). From there, we use our Perch Reporting Automator to isolate Perch and Perch+ product sales. This is the same data we receive from our partners for sales of Perch's own products.
Cross Referencing: Influencers who download their report and run it through a vlookup are always going to be somewhat different from enterprise-scale publishers who tie into Amazon's API and build custom reporting from their data warehouse. Depending on how the reports are originally downloaded, the transactions should either be a close match for a timestamp in your orders report in Seller Central, or an exact match for the ship date and time in your Amazon Fulfilled Shipments report. We have a few partners who, due to their agreements with Amazon, cannot provide timestamps, but we periodically audit their reporting, and rely on the same data for all of Perch's own affiliate sales.
For more information, please see Amazon's Associates Program Operating Agreement and Program Policies.
If you would like more details, you can see Amazon's Reporting FAQ.
No. We will assign a task to you in the Google doc, and you'll receive a Gmail notification. In the fulfillment doc, you'll find the requester's name (linked to their affiliate site) along with their shipping information.
We typically fulfill our product requests within 24 hours (2-3 day shipping). While you don't necessarily need to fulfill the orders within 24 hours, we ask that you aim for under 72 hours.
Please inform us of any existing partnerships with affiliates or publishers within the first month of enrollment. This ensures you won't be double-charged for those transactions while in the program.
Note: Existing partnerships include any pay-for-placement and performance-based (like Perch+) relationships you've already negotiated with given publications, influencers, or affiliates. Informal emails to publishers would not necessarily fall in this category, as there's no risk of double-billing. However, it's also helpful for us to be informed of informal partnerships.
We will provide affiliate contact information on a case-by-case basis and at the affiliate partners' discretion.
We'll update you (via emailing) when/if one of our higher-impact partners covered your products. We'll also add all of the placements we tracked to your Perch+ Console.
The short answer is: yes; feel free to continue whatever PR & marketing you've been doing.
With that said, please keep in mind that we are contractually obligated to pay out affiliate sales commissions regardless of who initiated the dialogue. Many of our affiliate partners own numerous outlets through which they generate affiliate revenue, and our affiliate agreement covers all of them.
In other words, if, by chance, you secure a placement with one of our partners, you will still be invoiced for the same amount at the end of the reporting cycle corresponding to that placement.
We consider traditional PR and affiliate to complement each other. The presence or absence of high affiliate commissions will usually influence the success of any PR outreach and pitches that you may perform on your own.
We cannot guarantee that you'll be placed in any number of articles, live streams, or posts. We'll announce your brand's inclusion in the Perch+ program (via our affiliate newsletter), add your ASINs to our full suite of self-serve affiliate tools, and regularly promote your brand's products alongside our own. With that said, our affiliates are given the freedom to share whichever products they'd like.
