MENTOR TRAINING

Thank you for serving as a mentor for our First Choice Discovery Program! The First Choice Discovery Program is a work-based learning beta program that offers career exploration and mentoring to every Pequea Valley (PV) sophomore student. Pequea Valley is excited for a new opportunity to support work-based learning and enhance the lives of its students. 

This program was created to help PV students spark interest in career opportunities, develop mentoring relationships, and build a stronger connection to area businesses. Our mission is to foster curiosity, creativity, and relationships in an ongoing environment as learners explore their first choice future careers, engage with local professionals, and learn about the workforce. We want to enhance learners’ career opportunities through professional mentorship and career pathway exploration.

To prepare for this program here is a list of things we have our mentors do:

1. Fill out the questions below

2. Complete Volunteer Clearances

3. Complete DISC Profile and CliftonStrengths Personality Assessments (Info will be emailed at later date)

4. View Session Overviews, Agendas, and Materials.

• Skills & Team-Building: September 19, 2025, 8 to 9am

• Resumes & Interview Preparation:  October 31, 2025, 8 to 9am

• Mock Interviews: November 21, 2025, 8 to 9am

• Mentor Breakfast Connect: December 19, 2025, 8 to 9am

• First Choice Career Fair: February 20, 2026, 7:30-11:30am (Mentors encouraged but not required). Snow MakeUp Date: February 27, 2026

• Job Shadowing Day: March 27, 2026, 8AM - 2:15 PM (Mentors encouraged but not required)

• Last Breakfast Connect: April 17, 2026, 8 to 9am
