I teach, research, and think about information systems, academic leadership, and technology management.
I teach IS courses to MBA and BS students at the Graziadio School of Business & Management. I have received the Universities highest teaching award, the Howard A. White Award for Excellence in Teaching (2007). Outside of Pepperdine, I have taught a number of seminars and conferences for AACSB including "5 Essential Socia Media Practices for B-School Administrators", and the ongoing Seminar for New Associate Deans.
My research has been published in leading empirical and practitioner journals including European Journal of Operations Research, and MIS Quarterly Executive, among others.
From 2010-2017, I served as Associate Dean with responsibilities across the Graziadio School at Pepperdine University. In this capacity I was responsible for serving all of our full-time, residential graduate programs, including over 500 full-time students across nine academic programs (http://bschool.pepperdine.edu/programs/full-time-programs/). Twice during these years, we were recognized as the "Biggest Winner" in US News & World Report Best Business School Rankings, with rankings improvements from 98 (2017) to 65 (2010). In addition to MBA rankings improvements, we launched four new programs (MSHR, MS in Real Estate, MS in Accounting, MS in Applied Analytics), approved an extensive MBA curriculum revision, and more than doubled the revenue contribution of full-time programs. I was also responsible for school-wide Alumni Relations (2010-2016), External Relations (including the Dean's Executive Leadership Series from 2014-2016), Technology Services (2013-2015), and Global Programs (2010-2017). Before assuming AD responsibilities, I chaired the Full-time MBA Program Committee (2009-2010), and served on both the MBA Program and Admissions Committees (2005-2009).
Prior to entering academia, I spent time as IT consultant in the Washington, D.C. area. I was in a small firm with both technical and client relations responsibilities for creating technology and business process solutions for a wide variety of corporate, non-profit, and government clients such as Dynamac, the US Army, SkillsUSA, and Aspen Publishers.
My education is from a collection of small, private, and large, public institutions. I've enjoyed them all and am a proud alumnus of four schools. I earned a M.S. and a Ph. D. in Information Systems from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Prior, I received a M.Div. and M.S. from Abilene Christian University, the Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma Christian University, and an A.A. from Northeastern Christian Junior College in Villanova, PA.
