Malala Yousafzai Class
Since starting this academic year, Malala Class have been showing a keen interest in their learning on The Stone Age! The children have immersed themselves in the lives of people from this prehistoric era and written some beautiful diary entries.
Since then, the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about fossils and exploring different rocks... some even looked like they had crystals in! This week we have just started learning a little bit more about the three periods of The Stone Age.
The topic covers lots of unfathomable concepts and high level vocabulary which have been tricky for the children to initially grasp but I am so proud of how resilient they are becoming with the more challenging learning in Year 3! The whole class have been commendable with their attitude to the whole of our inquiry topic and I cannot wait to see the continued work that they will produce!
Following the success of last year’s cake sale to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, our newly-appointed Head Pupils and school council representatives took the opportunity to do this again. We sold cakes to the children throughout the day and invited families to purchase some cakes at the end of the school day. Thank you to all families who donated cakes, with your help we managed to raise an amazing £269.31.
European Day of Languages
Every year, we celebrate European Day of Languages at school to recognise the importance of learning different languages and fostering cultural diversity. This year, our celebration was vibrant and full of excitement. The children participated in a variety of fun activities designed to enhance their understanding of languages from across Europe.
One of the highlights of the day was flag painting. Students enthusiastically created colourful flags representing different countries. This not only allowed them to express their creativity but also helped them learn about the various nations and their unique identities.
In addition to flag painting, we engaged in writing exercises where students attempted to write their names and simple phrases in another language. This activity challenged them to think about pronunciation and letter formations that differ from English.
Overall, European Day of Languages was a wonderful opportunity for students to explore new cultures and languages while having fun. Through these engaging activities, they developed a deeper appreciation for our diverse world. We are looking forward to making this an annual event, inspiring a love for languages in every child.
Coats
As the weather is starting to change and it is becoming colder and wetter, please remember to send your child/children in with a waterproof coat. All children need an opportunity to have some fresh air during their morning and lunch break and so will need this to keep them warm and dry when outside. Of course when we have heavy rain, we do keep the children inside for a wet break. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Medway Child Health Team Parent Workshops - New Recorded Sessions
I am very happy to be able to share a new set of recorded sessions for a parents YouTube Channel.
The Child Health Team conducted an online parent/carer survey to seek views on our current workshop offer and ways in which we can improve the offer. Parents and Carers requested sessions for dads and supporting men’s mental health.
We are delighted to be working with Laura Burke Training on this new set of videos. The set of three session cover:
Navigating Fatherhood
Men’s Mental Health
Managing Stress and Building Resilience for Men
The sessions can be accessed via our Child Health Parents YouTube Channel.
