Our Wonderful Inquiry Work
Oliver Jeffers
This module we have been busily preparing for our nativity performance of Snuggle Up Stable. Our singing is sounding spectacular!
Our central idea has been, "Organisations exist to improve communities" and we have had lots of visitors from within school and outside of school - we have been visited by a police officer, a bus driver and a midwife! We have been continuing to develop our phonics skills and have used our new skills to write about our experiences. Within our environment, we have had many opportunities for role play and have been doctors in our class doctors surgery, have enjoyed playing at being police officers and have posted letters in the postbox.
Paul O' Grady & Steve Backshall
This week, Year 4 have been working on settings for our class text Madame Pamplemousse and her Incredible Edibles. She runs a mysterious shop in the heart of Paris. We imagined what the setting would look like and based our writing on our pictures.
Earlier in the week we made Christmas cards for the LAT card competition. We are hoping one of ours will win!
In Science and DT, we have been learning about healthy diets and how to prevent tooth decay. We set up an experiment about the effects of sugary drinks on our teeth and on Monday we will hopefully see some results!
School information
Modern Foreign Languages
We have recently changed our language learning to Spanish and the children have been having a great time. Mr Rudkin(from Hundred of Hoo Secondary) has been coming into PEPA every two weeks teaching us the fundamentals of learning how to speak Spanish. The children have expressed their enjoyment of Spanish and have made great progress already in KS2. We have also had a very successful languages club for Module 1 and 2 which had a great turn out and the children had lots of fun learning about languages.
We are excited to see the amazing progress they make throughout the year.
Art & Design Technology
All children, throughout the school have learnt a new skill in Art and D&T. Year 5 have been focusing on sketching, Year 3 have been carving and printing and KS1 have been using their cutting skills for a collage. We have practised these skills within a sequence of lessons to help us create a final product at the end of term. We have recently updated our lovely new art display. Which show cases fantastic work from each class. We are very excited to see our final Art and D&T pieces at the end of term.
KS2 Choir Club
This week, we had our final KS2 Choir session. Mrs Champ is so proud of the children and how much their confidence and musicality has grown over the past ten weeks. The children know how to warm up their voices, sing scales and we have worked hard to be able to sing our special warm up song 'Bella Mamba' in a round. They have grown in skill, supporting me when leading singing assemblies and they are looking forward to performing (with some solos!) in our KS2 Christmas Carol Concert in two weeks. Thank you to all who attended.
