If you look around at lunchtime, there’s a good chance you’ll see a large portion of guys playing Brawl Stars. But why is it so popular? And why so long after its initial release date? Let’s explore why. The developer, Supercell, is known for making long-lasting games that a majority of people enjoy. Their token games, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, are very highly rated games that have been out for years. Both of these games have been hits since their release date, which, similarly, was the case with Brawl Stars for a time. However, a few months after its release, Brawl Stars was seeing a gradual decline in players due to the lack of modes and content overall. It stayed like this for a while, with a few gains in their player base whenever something new would come out. But knowing Supercell, it was only a matter of time before they pushed out some crazy stuff with this valuable IP.
Over time, Supercell would give the game visual updates to make it more appealing. The game didn’t look as ugly anymore and is now one of the better looking mobile games out there. Additionally, many great game modes were added that incorporated all styles of play. There were solo modes, trio modes, and even big team modes with 5 versus 5. Perhaps, the most convenient thing about the game is that the matches will only take about five minutes at most. This allows you to cram in a match or two in between things you are doing throughout the day, or just keep playing match after match if you have the time for it. Supercell changed the loot system within the game as well. Before, you had to rely on these in-game chests called Mega Boxes that gave you pretty terrible rewards overall. Recently, those were changed to a different kind of chest called Starr Drops, which give you more consistent rewards while you’re playing. Supercell also seems to be updating the game quite frequently, making it fresh every time you log on. Speaking of updates, Brawl Stars has had some crazy ones as of late. A few months ago, Brawl Stars had a collaboration with Godzilla, bringing a new exciting game mode alongside great cosmetics and even more loot options. The magnum opus, however, occurred this season when they brought SpongeBob into Brawl Stars. Several game modes, a new in-game shop, SpongeBob-themed skins, and even John Cena have made this probably the most hyped and exciting season in Brawl Stars history.
Regardless of if you like mobile games or not, it is highly likely that you have heard of Brawl Stars. It has come a long way from its humble beginnings, surpassing one billion in total earnings. Now, while this may seem like a lot for just a mobile game, it definitely deserves it. Brawl Stars has done everything right in order to keep their player base and keep pushing forward into whatever crazy thing they do next.
