Hey!!! If you don’t already know me, because let's be honest, I talk way too loudly in hallways and classrooms to stay mysterious, my name is Natasha Forsythe, and I’m a senior at Peotone High School. I took Journalism I in my freshman year, met some of the best people in the world, and discovered my love for journalism, so I came back this year as a senior for Journalism II and to torture Price. As a freshman, there was this amazing group of seniors in my Journalism I class that, for lack of more poetic words, was absolute chaos. They truly became my inspiration for who I wanted to become and how I wanted to present myself by my Senior year. 

I'd like to say I lead an interesting life full of excitement and adventure, like the movies, but it's nothing like the movies. (book reference anyone?) I read or listen to audiobooks while doing something else, I knit and crochet like the grandma I am, I go to work when able, and sleep every free moment I can. I live the most uneventful life, but who needs some exciting nightlife to prove they’ve lived? Although I do not live the exciting life I thought I would by Senior year, I am living a life I'm able to be proud of, which is what matters more. 

I adore others and like to learn anything I can about them, so I want to report on the people, whether that means the Peotone student body or a family 20000 miles away. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy reporting hard news and researching things that matter on a global scale, but I want to create a school-focused paper. 

Heyyy! My name is Avey Lenz. I am a Senior here at Peotone, thankfully. A little about me is, here at the high school, I am a part of the Cross Country team, Track & Field, FFA, NHS, Best Buddies, Art Club, as well as our New Student Ambassadors program. My favorite drink is McDonald's Coke Zero by far. Shockingly, I also work at McDonald's! And at the Dollar General in town. 

After high school, I am excited to continue my education at the University of Illinois-Chicago and major in Accounting. I love numbers. I am super excited to go here as my boyfriend of over two years is currently going here, and it is in my favorite city, Chicago! 

I joined Advanced Journalism this year because I was in Intro my Freshman year and absolutely loved it. I had the best time in class was surrounded by amazing people, and overall just love the vibe of the class. Advanced was actually started because I begged Mr.Price to let me come back so much. Guess you could say I was the reason… Anyway, I love writing about our school sports as well as everyday student life, so stick around to hear all the drama we write about this year! Fun fact, my Freshman year I was made section editor and was in charge of a few seniors who had to write for the newspaper. This year, I'm glad to be back, this time as a Senior writing about what I love and what you all want to hear!

High school, thank god. I am pursuing Psychology in college, to later transition into anaesthesiology. I moved here in my 8th-grade year from the city, and it has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. I have met such a great group of people and have found one of the most rewarding hobbies ever, theater. Theater is one of my biggest rewards, as it has been an area in which I have only improved and moved up on countless occasions. Though it is such a passion, I also love art, specifically ceramics. I was introduced to ceramics in my freshman or sophomore year (Thank you, Mr Murray) and have continued it during my junior year and now to my senior year as well. I have found a great group of people in both of these clubs, as they are very open to diversity and welcoming to everyone. 

One fun fact about me is that if you know me, you know I very much want a goat, and I am a major chicken hater. Oftentimes, I have debates about goats being better than chickens (I’m always right), so don’t be surprised if you find me with a goat or two when I’m older! I have been a part of Journalism before in my sophomore year, so it’s not my first time with Mr. Price and this class. I know my way around this class…maybe. Not only that, but I joined for one more year because I heard that they were actually doing print papers again, and that sounded fun!

 Expect lots of coverage on school events, like games, dances, and any event that has been hosted by the school, staff, or students. Something else to look forward to is the recording of 2026’s Senior year as they go down in history! That’s all from me! Enjoy reading about everyone else, byee!

Hey!!! My name is Dulce Reyes, and I’m managing editor of the Devils Advocate online website. I’m a senior enrolled in Peotone High School and currently taking part in the National Honor Society, Book Club, and our PHS Math Team. I am a proud second-generation immigrant. My entire family, including both my parents, are from Guanajuato, Mexico. My heritage and culture are a huge part of who I am today, and I proudly embrace them. 

Something else about me is that I also love challenges and exploring new things. I'm an extremely competitive person, and I like being challenged constantly and living up to my potential. I also genuinely enjoy puzzles, mysteries, word games, chess, and just about any activity that keeps my mind awake. Contrary to this, writing had never sparked my interest; rather felt like a tedious chore. A little ironic since it was the one elective I begged Mr. Price to approve for two years.  

I first discovered Journalism during my freshman year of high school and have loved it ever since. I initially joined Journalism to develop my voice as well as enhance my communication skills. English is my second language, and I have always struggled to express myself and communicating clearly. Journalism has allowed me to use my voice, expand my vocabulary, enable me to develop ideas and thoughts through writing, and express myself better in a language that is not my first. In upcoming editions, I strive to provide PHS attendants with community-centered news as well as student and staff perspective pieces, as well as social, cultural, and informative pieces that reflect the interests and needs of our community. I am really looking forward to informing and entertaining our readers with my work and introducing students at PHS to a different perspective of what writing can contribute to a community. 

Hello!  My name is Myleyna Griest, or Lanie as most people prefer to call me.  I am currently a Freshman at Peotone High School. My best subjects are English and History.  I like to draw, so you might see a comic or two from me in some of the newspapers we hand out from time to time.  I also like politics, poetry, baking, animals, and trying to find random facts when I go on research binges at 12 P.M. or when I get curious and go down rabbit holes, but who doesn’t?  I suppose I also am interested in fashion, astronomy, and Greek mythology.  So, you might hear some information about those topics from me as well.

Though I can’t make any promises, if you are interested in fashion, as I don't always pay attention to that as much as I do other areas of interest.

I want to write at least a little bit about student life, some articles about politics, a little about news in general, and random information I can find or am interested in about everyday events.  I also know about past events, but who wants to learn about the past in a newspaper about the present day?  I sure don't; we have history class for that! Not the school’s newspaper.  

I am looking forward to writing in the school newspaper this year, and I hope you all are looking forward to reading it, or as Aldous Huxley would say, “Words cannot be like X-rays if you use them properly - they’ll go through anything. You read, and you are pierced” (Brave New World).

My name is Tavin Harshfield, and I'm in my senior year. Outside of school, I enjoy playing baseball, working out, and hanging out with friends and family. Occasionally, I play video games in my free time, but not a lot as I'm busy with sports and school work. Baseball has always been my passion, as I've been playing the sport since I was about 5. I play it all year round and am excited for the future it holds. 

English has always been my favorite subject in school. I joined Journalism because I plan on majoring in it when I go to college, and though I really only watch baseball and football, I like to stay informed in the sports world as a whole, including basketball and even hockey. I've always watched and played all sorts of sports, so I've always seen the analysts and reporters that cover each sport, and it has always piqued my interest in going into that career. 

As of last year, I came to the conclusion that when I go into college with sports, I would like to major in the journalism side of English majors. 

I want to join a good English program when I go away to college, but I want to stay close to the state so I'm closer to my family. In this class, I would like to cover lots of sports and other news in the real world. 

With the twist of the throttle, the wind begins to whip around, and all thoughts of fear are left behind as you take off. The world fades into stripes of green and brown, and you hear nothing but your engine. It’s my favorite place to be on two wheels. My dirt bike has been an extension of me, Tyler Lapapa, from a young age. If you can’t find me riding a dirt bike, you will find me fishing. It's another great hobby of mine. I’m now 6 '5 and will be a senior this year, graduating early in December. 

Language Arts and English classes were always enjoyable to me. I may have been one of the few students who would put down Language Arts as my favorite subject on my “All About Me" poster assignments in younger grades. However, being exposed to Ag classes in high school, I would have to say those are probably my favorite classes.

Over the summer, I started college classes at Joliet Junior College. I have not decided exactly what my career will be, but it will most likely be in civil engineering, land surveying, or as a construction project manager. I look forward to continuing on this journey to see where I land.

As far as taking a journalism class, I have always enjoyed writing and wanted to advance my writing ability. I am interested in covering stories that inspire, bring positivity, express different experiences, and spread awareness. We all can use encouraging, uplifting news in our lives.

My name is Gawain Schaefer, and I have been living in Peotone for about 8 years. I used to live in Matteson, a smaller suburban town closer to Chicago. I love music, drawing, painting, and shows like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure or One Punch Man. If you want any music or show recommendations, feel free to ask me anytime. I also play video games like Roblox and Minecraft. 

I like to observe nature as well. I have traveled to almost every state in the country as well as internationally. I have gone to Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, but I plan on going to Ireland, Scotland, and England in a few years. After I finish school, I am planning to travel the entire planet. 

I am interested in most subjects, including science, math, art, psychology, and philosophy, for a start. If you want to talk to me, just walk up, and I’ll talk about basically anything. I did not really know what I signed up for in terms of the class, but at the same time, I wanted to challenge myself with journalism. I would like to write about anime, TV shows in a general sense-or really anything except sports. My only exception to the topic of sports is bowling.    

My name is Bailey Schultz. I’ve been going to Peotone since kindergarten and am now a freshman. I joined journalism because I like to read and write. I’m interested in being more involved with topics in student life because I feel that it is important to be involved in what is going on around you. 

Some things about me are that I am in wrestling and softball. I have been wrestling since seventh grade, and playing softball since kindergarten. I was in cheer until eighth grade; now I coach five-year-olds learning how to cheer. Some of my hobbies include sewing and crocheting. I love to listen to music. I listen to mostly rock. Bands I like can range anywhere from the Beatles to Nirvana to Motley Crue. I also play three instruments, including trumpet, French horn, and guitar. I also love to watch movies and TV shows. My go-to movie genre is comedy, mostly Adam Sandler movies. 

On another note, my favorite subject is history, and my least favorite is math. What I like to learn in History is mostly about the First and Second World Wars. Some of my favorite foods include cheeseburgers, kiwis, peaches, and cheesecake. A fun fact about me is that I met the actor who played Squints in The Sandlot. 

I look forward to being in journalism and participating in events around the school.
