Invitations to apply for NHS Membership for the 2026-2027 year will be sent via email during the last week of July.
Before you are eligible to apply for membership in the Penn-Trafford High School National Honor Society, please ensure that you meet the following minimum requirements:
☐ Academic Achievement
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher at the end of your sophomore (10th grade) or junior (11th grade) year.
Please Note: Beginning with the Class of 2030 (students who entered Penn-Trafford as freshmen in the fall of 2026), the minimum cumulative GPA required for NHS eligibility is 3.85. Students in earlier graduating classes remain subject to the 3.75 GPA requirement.
☐ Community Service
Complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service performed outside of school hours between the beginning of your freshman (9th grade) year and the time of application.
☐ Leadership Experience
Serve in at least one leadership role within your school, community, workplace, or another organization.
For National Honor Society purposes, a leadership position is one in which you are responsible for guiding or organizing people, managing situations, or overseeing projects or responsibilities in an effective and ethical manner.
Please note: Meeting these minimum requirements makes you eligible to apply for membership. It does not guarantee selection. All completed applications are reviewed by the Faculty Council, which evaluates candidates based on the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
Applications for membership into NHS are due Friday September 11, 2026 by 3 p.m. No late applications accepted.
