Course Description
This course will insure that students have a successful transition into high school. They will learn the skills necessary to become responsible students and will be introduced to the tools needed to meet their full potential. This includes following oral and written directions, managing time, developing organizational skills, honing inquiry skills, making logical deductions, analyzing information to improve comprehension, understanding study and test taking strategies.

Absences
Students will be given time to make up assignments within reason. Students are responsible for making up the work. After three days of the assigned date or return, students will receive a zero. All assignments must be stamped before turning them in. I will check my records to make sure that you were absent. If you were not absent, you will receive a zero.
Grading
Grades for this class will be based on a total point system. The following categories will be assessed:
1. Class Participation- Students are expected to behave in an appropriate manner and ENGAGE the lesson as directed.
2. Planner-Weekly planner check includes reviewing the student’s effective daily use of the planner and goal setting.
3. Homework- There will be occasional homework assignments which will be necessary for successful completion of this course.
4. Projects- Each topic will include either a project or assessment in some capacity to strengthen the student’s knowledge of the unit.
