Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both you and your child to our science class. It was nice seeing such excited faces today as we start a new school year. I am looking forward to a fun and successful year as I begin working as a part of the 7C/8C team.
I have introduced your child to our Google Classroom and my website in class today. Please become familiar with this too, when you get a chance. In Google Classroom, I will share documents and you can also see my Homework Calendar on my website with important dates and assignments on a daily basis. Communication is a very important component for success so please do not hesitate to contact me. You may call if you prefer, 215-428-4280, or email me at smahoney@pennsburysd.org
My classroom expectations will be discussed with your child during the first days of school. I would like your child to come prepared each day for class with a binder and loose leaf, Chromebook and a pencil and pen. Sometimes, I will ask your child to bring colored pencils, crayons, scissors and a calculator to class. I have some of these supplies but they might want to use their own.
Your child should expect some kind of homework each night except on weekends. If no written homework is assigned, students should look over their notes from the day’s lesson. I will let your child know at least a week in advance before a test. I also like my classroom to be student-centered so if you or your child has something to share regarding science, I encourage it.
Our Back to School night is scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 2019. This will be a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and to learn more about their day. I am looking forward to working together to make this an enjoyable and successful learning experience for your child.
