Classroom Information

Classroom Expectations

1. Be responsible – All students will be expected to act and behave in a responsible manner. This includes being on time for class (even when it is digital!) and being prepared with proper materials including any assignments given. Please be ready to begin when class starts. Late arrivals will be recorded and result in detention.

2. Be respectful – Please treat me, your fellow classmates, the room, and all materials in it with full respect. Nothing less will be tolerated.

3. Be engaged – Participation in classroom activities and discussions count! By participating you are showing interest as well as effort. Participation is always welcome, highly suggested, and expected often.

Additionally, please come prepared with the following materials EVERY DAY:

  • 3-ring binder or folder

  • #2 Pencils

  • Student assignment book or wherever you record your homework

  • Calculator- used for laboratory calculations

  • Charged Chromebook with headphones/earbuds

Grades

** Grades are posted weekly on Canvas. Canvas is where you must look to see your accurate grade. HAC will only be used for midpoint and final grades each marking period.

Grading is based on a weighted point system. Your grade will be based on performance in homework/classwork (10%), assessments (quizzes, tests, and projects) (50%), and laboratory assignments (40%). Second chance learning is available when applicable.

Late Assignment Policy

In order to receive full credit, assignments must be turned in when I collect them. Any assignment that is not turned in at this time is considered late and will be graded accordingly. Assignments will not be accepted after 2 weeks past the due date.

Absences

If you are absent, work missed is your responsibility to obtain and complete. An excused absence is the only valid reason for not turning work in on time. Check the Agenda or Modules on Canvas for the homework postings OR with a classmate to stay current with assignments. Upon returning to school, please immediately check the absentee bin for any necessary papers. You will have the number of days absent to complete the assignments without penalty.

** In the case of absences resulting in more than a few days, feel free to call guidance and have them gather together any missed work which can be picked up in the guidance office.

** If you are absent on a test/quiz day, be prepared to make it up upon returning to school. If an assignment/project is due on a day you are absent, please turn it in upon returning.

**Homework and lecture notes are posted on Canvas as well ☺
