Second grade is a truly an amazing year. Each child will show tremendous growth not only in the basics of reading/language arts and math, but also in the areas of independence and responsibility. Our reading/language program is very strong in the areas of phonemic awareness, vocabulary and fluency. These skills transfer to spelling and writing.
All children in kindergarten through eighth grade are assessed three times a year (September, January, and May) in both reading and math using the AIMS Web screening program. They are given several one minute tests which help us to determine if your child is making adequate progress and if extra help is needed to bring your child up to level.
