AUGUST SUMMARY: During August we got back into "school mode" by spending a few days getting to know each other. Then, we began our first unit -- Calculate Sums and Differences of Rational Numbers. Our focus this month has been on absolute value and opposites.

SEPTEMBER SUMMARY: In seventh grade, students worked on adding and subtracting rational numbers. Rational numbers are whole numbers, integers, fractions, and all repeating or terminating decimals as well as perfect roots. We used SADS and KFC to help remember the process to add and subtract signed numbers.

AUGUST SUMMARY: During August we got back into "school mode" by spending a few days getting to know each other. Then, we began our first unit -- Transformations. This is a new concept for the majority of the class and involves transforming shapes by translating (sliding), reflecting (flipping), and rotating (turning). Our focus this month has been on translating objects by sliding them right or left and up or down.

SEPTEMBER SUMMARY: September was spent finishing up our transformations unit. Afterwards, we moved onto volume where students began working on a group project where they are to construct a sculpture and then calculate the volume of their design.
