Jack in the Box officially opened in Battle Creek on June 15, 2026, at 2588 Capital Ave SW, bringing a new fast-food option to the community. Pennfield student Leighton Francis has been to the restaurant twice after seeing it on TikTok and hearing about it from friends. “I think it’s good because it gives more of a food option and choice,” Francis said. She ordered the chicken tenders but said she thought Taco Bell was better. Ryelon Smith has also been to the restaurant twice and visited shortly after it opened, when the drive-thru line was about 45 minutes long. Smith said he wanted to try Jack in the Box because he had never had it before and had seen its tiny tacos online. “The food was good, with the tiny tacos exceeding my expectations!” Smith said. His favorite item was the strawberry milkshake, which he described as “really sweet and rich.” Gavin Troost, who previously trained with Jack in the Box, said his favorite items were the Sourdough Jack and the Smash Jack. Troost said the restaurant is a good option for people who want to try something different, but he “would not make a special trip for it.” With different opinions from students, Jack in the Box has given Battle Creek another fast-food choice to try.

Pita Way is a unique Mediterranean restaurant in Battle Creek that offers bowls, wraps, salads, gyros, and other fresh options. Pita Way is more unique than some other restaurants and has family-friendly options. Kids 12 and under can eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée when dining in, and the restaurant also offers family meals for larger groups. Kelly Royer, a Pita Way customer, said her favorite item is “the gyro, especially with pickles.” She also said that her only complaint is that the restaurant serves Pepsi products because she “LOVES Diet Coke.” Pita Way was founded by Brandon Bahoura, who was inspired by the meals his family made while he was growing up. The first Pita Way opened in Clarkston, Michigan, in 2010, intending to serve delicious Mediterranean food while creating a welcoming, family-like atmosphere.
