Audition & Rehearsal Tips
Things to do when auditioning!
- Smile, have fun, and sell yourself in the role that you want!
- Be honest about your sports and other conflicts both in and outside of school. The schedule is built around what you write down on your audition form!
- Practice your music and reading ahead of time; see Fitz for extra practice on your own.
- Turn your cell phone off and put it in a safe spot like a backpack. No cell phones are permitted in the audition room.
- Wear clothing and shoes appropriate for movement.
- Pull your hair back away from your face - we want to see your expressions and smile!
- Always be supportive and respectful of other actors.
- Arrive ON TIME, having already changed your clothes, gone to your locker, snacked, etc.
- Dispose of gum, snack bags, and leftover food before coming into the audition space. Water is OK.
- Listen carefully to the director, music director, choreographer, assistant director, and stage manager - they are there to help you do your best.
- If you are asked to sing, dance or act something differently, give it your best shot and at least try - show that you are willing to be flexible.
- Ask questions of any faculty member if you are confused, have a concern, or need something.
- Engaging in distracting side conversations or horseplay while in the audition will hurt your chances for being cast.
