Hello all!
I am super excited to begin year 4 as a pirate here at TMS! I have a BA in Environmental Science from Catawba College and received my certification through UNCW for 6th-9th graders in math and science. I have taught for 20 years for the Diocese of Raleigh, from 1999-2004 at Infant of Prague in Jacksonville (5th-8th graders), and then from 2004-2019 at St. Mark in Wilmington (6th-8th graders). Though we enjoyed living in Wilmington, we love the Hampstead area and so happy we decided to make it our home base in 2017!
I love science and love that I am afforded another amazing opportunity to share my enjoyment for it with the students here at TMS! I try to foster a challenging but rewarding atmosphere in my classroom where the hope is each student can find something under that science umbrella they can enjoy and will stick with them as they continue their life long learning!
My enthusiasm for school is not limited to science or math--athletics are also a love. They are a great contributor to student growth, character and maturity for all kiddos. Playing sports throughout my youth led me into coaching. I have coached basketball, volleyball, soccer, and t-ball. I am the girls basketball coach here at TMS and look forward to when we can return to the court and play more roundball together! Let's GO PIRATES!
I have a fantastic husband, Allan, an amazing daughter, Emma, and a sweet pup, Fin. In the enormous amount of free time I have (hahaha) I love watching our girl cut it up on the soccer field, being a first mate on my hubby's boat, or hanging out with our pooch outside enjoying the view.
My philosophy is simple: Work hard, play is necessary, treat everyone like God intended, and at the end of the day enjoy the time you have with your loved ones.
Goooooo Pirates!!!
