1.WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS?

Visit the ICT Literacy Standards Link for information about NH Schools. Aside from meeting Literacy standards, students are introduced to the Plymouth Regional High School’s 21st Century Learning Expectations. Also, we hope to utilize digital tools to promote independent learning and engage students in real world problem solving.

2. WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A PORTFOLIO? IS IT TOO LATE?

See Mrs. MacLean as soon as possible.

3. DO I NEED SAMPLES FROM ALL FOUR YEARS?

  • No, students may not have access to their work from previous years. If you transferred from another school, you may include your work but it is not required.

4. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I TRANSFERRED TO PRHS DURING MY SENIOR YEAR?

  • See Mr. Parsons and/or your guidance counselor to see if an exception can be made. Otherwise you are required to complete a portfolio.

6. HOW MANY PIECES OF WORK DO I NEED IN EACH SECTION?

You need three pieces of work in each section of your portfolio. Unless you are doing an Advance portfolio and you are required to have one sample and reflection on each of the 21st Century Learning Expectations.

7. CAN I PUT A PIECE OF WORK IN MORE THAN ONE SECTION?

You can add a work to more than one section of a portfolio as long as the reflection is different in each section.

8. WHAT DO I DO IF IN NEED SOME EXTRA HELP?

  • Stop by 201 or the library. The library is an excellent place to get help on your portfolio. You could make arrangements with Mrs. MacLean to meet before, during or after school. During a study hall is a great time to get help.

9. CAN I FAIL THE PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENT?

  • Yes, if the writing is incomplete. Or, there are spelling and grammar errors that are alarming and this will be reported to Guidance and Administration. The cover of your portfolio should be a sample of your best writing. This should be an essay about you. The only other option is to use a college essay you plan to use in the college application process.
  • One of the most common reasons a portfolio is rejected is the use of the lower case (i) in inappropriate places. Texting language will not be accepted. Be sure to use spell check before submitting.

10. DO NOT COPY REFLECTIONS! -

If a reflection is copied, incomplete, your portfolio may not be accepted and you will be asked to revise and re-submit. A reflection should answer three questions. What is it? What did you learn? Why or how does your work meet the 21st Century Learning Expectation?

11. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN IMAGE ON YOUR PORTFOLIO

  • A portfolio will be rejected if your image is not appropriate. Examples of acceptable images include a self portraits, artwork, sports photos etc.

12. When is a portfolio due?

Each year the deadline varies. All portfolios must be completed and passed by the end of March your senior year. You can submit your portfolio and get feedback at any time. The key would be to submit early to be sure it is in fact proficient. It is tough to submit close to the deadline and leave very little time to readdress any issues.

We are using this digital portfolio to do two things. Students demonstrate their ability to collect, select and reflect on learning experiences. Also, students are introduced to the school’s 21st Century Learning Expectations. Also, we hope to utilize digital tools to promote independent learning and engage students in real world problem solving.
