Q: "What is a job shadow?"
A: A job shadow is s a valuable tool to learn about a career/job you are interested in for your future. It is hard to know what it is like to be a teacher, an accountant, an architect, or a vet tech just from reading about it. A job shadow is like a mini internship where you get are paired with a professional in your field of interest and you spend the day following them through their regular work schedule.

A: Students at Pembroke have complete job shadows in many diverse career fields. Some shadows that have been completed include; pharmacy, vet tech, teacher, architect, interior design, nursing, computer technology, transportation, athletic director, dentist, park ranger/police and accountant to name a few. We also work collaboratively with the Genesee County BEA (Business Education Alliance)

Complete the online Job Shadow Request form through the form at the bottom of the page.
Stop in to see your counselor and let them know that you are interested in completing a shadow. It may take a little while to get everything set up so don't wait! Stop in and let us know ASAP!
Your counselor will call you down to review the Shadow information and give you the permission form that needs to be signed.

Road Trip Nation is an archive of interviews with individuals in many different career fields. It is almost like a mini, virtual job shadow. You can find Road Trip Nation once you log into NAVIANCE.
Another virtual resource is the website Edge Factor.
Again, you can access your account through Clever once you've logged in through google. Under the explore link you will find many videos and resources to learn about careers. Edge Factor can also link you with local businesses.
