READING

Grade 3 students should be reading for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Keep reading every day - whatever peaks your interest!

This month, we are reading whichever type of fiction we enjoy the most - realistic fiction, adventure, animal fantasy, mystery, tale or fantasy.

SORA ebooks is an online library set up for our classroom, through the school division. Your child can log in to SORA through your computer with their school gmail address (email me if you need it!)

EPIC is another ebook platform that we haven't tried in class yet but you can log in with your child's name and the class code: whi3503

WRITING

Our writing program is just beginning. Our focus for this time of year is on fiction writing.

We will continue to focus on using what we already know about capitalization in our writing. We capitalize NAMES, DATES, HOLIDAYS, TITLES, the word 'I', and the first word at the beginning of a sentence. The emphasis continues to be on using effective spelling strategies.
