During the first two marking periods, we will be studying the events leading up to the Revolutionary War, as well as the events during it.

Unit 1: Road to Revolution

• We will study the conflicts and events that occurred between Great Britain and the American Colonies, and understand how they led to the Revolutionary War.

Unit 2: Revolution and Early Republic

• We will study the events of the Revolutionary War and its effects on American society. We will also study American life after the revolution, including the first administrations of American democracy.

During the third and fourth marking periods, we will begin to study Civics.

Unit 3: Foundational Documents

• We will study the role of the government, its powers, and the rights of American Citizens.

Unit 4: Role of the Citizen

• We will break down components of the Preamble to the Constitution and understand how it applies to modern society. We will also learn how citizens are able to participate in American Democracy.
