The Connection -

In order to truly rehabilitate, our approach will consist of a head to toe assessment to discover the driver of your symptoms. Our highly trained pelvic floor specialists are knowledgeable and empathetic. We strongly believe effective medical care cannot be cookie cutter.
“Pelvic Connections has been a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to finding a reliable, professional, knowledgeable and caring Pelvic Floor Therapist. She addressed all my concerns and created a plan to ease my discomfort and eventually heal my pelvic problems. If you are looking for a Pelvic Floor Therapist look no further.”

10 Reasons to Choose Pelvic Connections
1. We listen to you
We will take the time to listen to you. A thorough discussion can hold a goldmine of information to help us help you. People have searched for years for an answer that may be retrieved by a professional asking the right questions.
2. We specialize in pelvic floor dysfunction
Pelvic floor health is our main focus instead of an added on service to generalized physical or occupational therapy. Many therapy clinics offer pelvic floor therapy as an add on, but the therapist may have only taken one class about the pelvic floor. We have treated thousands of patients over the years with a broad range of symptoms and underwent hundreds of hours worth of specialized training. We are specialists in the field of pelvic health.
3. Old fashion, quality care
You will work with a qualified specialist every session instead of being passed on to various aides/assistants. This style of care helps to promote a trusting and comfortable relationship. No need to repeat your story more than once. We have "clinical collectives" at Pelvic Connections, monthly time dedicated to putting our minds together for the tricky cases to ensure our clients are well taken care of.
4. No cookie cutters here
Each patient is prescribed an individual plan at the end of the first session instead of premade pamphlets. We will design the plan with you in the office to represent the exact goal(s) you are coming in with, and provide a clear outline of the steps to achieve them.
5. Finding the driver, kegels are not your cure
A head to toe assessment will be performed to find what body part(s) may be involved with your main complaint, instead of having a tunnel vision approach to the problem area. Many clinics will focus on "one body part at a time", which causes repeat injuries and incomplete rehab. We will find all of the driver(s) to your symptoms.
6. Honest medical advice
We will advise you with our honest professional opinions instead of basing your care off of what your insurance allows. We believe doctors should use their years of skilled training to communicate clinical honestly first and foremost and then amend as a team to fit YOUR needs.
7. Actually get a call back
A real person will return your call within 1-2 business days, instead of hearing a machine with automated prompts. Choose your preference of contact- phone calls, video chats, or emailing.
8. Evolving care
Our staff enjoys remaining active in the ever-evolving realm of research and evidence. We are active in the community for advocation. The owner and mentor of Pelvic Connections, Dr. Jackie, is a teaching assistant for the pelvic floor rehabilitation institute "Herman & Wallace" where she helps to educate hundreds of other pelvic floor providers. All of the clinicians at Pelvic Connections attend PelviCon annually - a magical conference where 600+ specialized pelvic therapists gather to learn the newest evidence and techniques to provide to our clients.
9. Leave with more than you asked for!
Our patients leave our office not only with a plan to correct their problem, but also tips for related wellness to foster higher quality of life. We will screen for related issues such as sleep quality, anxiety/depression, trauma, diet, stress management, cardiac health concerns, and more.
10. Emotionally intelligent staff
You will work with a provider who truly cares for you and is in the field for the right reasons. We believe in a sufficient work-life balance for our employees to avoid "burnout". We only treat one patient at a time and we believe in treating ourselves to therapy as well. This keeps us ready to deliver attentive and thorough care to every patient. Our entire staff is screened for emotional intelligence and are trained in trauma informed care practices. We are truly so happy to serve you.
"After seeing 2 urologists, my PCP, and a previous PT, I have finally found my recipe to feel good again. It has been 3 months now since my last session and this whole process has helped me so much. Pelvic Connections really helped me out of a rough patch and I will always be appreciative of that." - John C.

Frequently Asked Questions
In the state of Connecticut, you do not need a referral to seek the help of a Doctor of Physical Therapy or an Occupational Therapist. In the uncommon case that there are any findings requiring a medical provider's attention, our providers will inform you at the time of your visit.
In the state of New York, you do not need a referral to seek the help of a Doctor of Physical Therapy, initially. After 10 sessions or 30 days, we will reach out to your doctor to request a documented referral to continue therapy services.
Yes. It is completely up to your comfort level and does not impact your treatment. If a heavy flow day happens to fall on your initial evaluation, there is SO much information to gather externally if you are more comfortable starting with that instead. We have pads and wipes available in the office.
Yes. You are welcome to bring a guest with you to your appointment and they are welcome to remain in the room with you throughout our time together, or to wait for you in our waiting room. We want you to feel comfortable.

Your first visit with us will consist of a thorough chat with the pelvic floor specialist to discuss your case. A thorough explanation will help us help you, and there is no such thing here as "TMI".
Then, you will be asked to change into a gown and an assessment will be performed. Although each case is unique, we usually suggest both external and internal assessments.
The external portion will consist of a full head to toe assessment to examine posture, range of motion, movement patterns, breathing and abdominal coordination, balance, strength, stability, and a series of special tests to narrow down what is driving or causing your symptoms.
If you feel comfortable, we believe it is best to have an internal (transvaginal and/or transrectal) assessment to determine even more specific causes to your symptoms. This exam provides clues for your pelvic floor therapist if your pelvic floor is weak, tight, uncoordinated, or doing just fine. Whatever the case may be, we have a unique set of tools in our toolbox to treat each case. We will be here working with you every step of the way, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. We are here for you.
You will leave the appointment with a clear understanding of your body and what we can help you with. You will be assigned an individualized home program and a plan of care will be established between you and your pelvic floor specialist. We believe in a "phases" model.
Phase 1: Weekly (1-2x per week) sessions until your symptoms are minimized
Phase 2: Every other week or less to put your symptom recovery to the test! Here is where we add back in more challenging activities or higher energy demand goals. We help you keep your symptoms minimized while adding life back in!
Phase 3: This looks different for everyone as far as frequency goes. Here, you are "graduated" to come back at least every 6 months-1 year for a check up. We may test higher level goals out such as marathons, mountain hikes, or more! Otherwise, many of our clients come in monthly at this phase because of their successful results from body work, vagus nerve massage, personal training, homework progression, and more!
